My friend works in a place that's non essential and doesn't help the economy so to speak as not retail, its an arcade.
He thinks hell be back to work on 3rd, I can't possibly see it.

Same for my sil who works in a soft play and their daughter who works at a local theme park.

I personally think these places are unlikely to re open but think they'll open the shops back up.

Depends what tiers we are all put in.

louisejxxx · 21/11/2020 12:26

I think we’ll revert to the tier system but with an extra tier that is essentially like lockdown...but as we’ll be 4 weeks down the line, which parts of the country are in which tiers will look massively different. I am in the West Mids, but not in an area that was already in tier 2. I have pretty much come to expect that if we come out of this and have to go into tier 2 rather than tier 1 like before, that’s probably a pretty good result.

ImNotCutOutForThis · 21/11/2020 12:27

Not sure what ours would be. We're on about 270 per 100.000

I really hope kids sports come back. But thats a selfish hope.

louisejxxx · 21/11/2020 12:32

210.2 for where I am looking at the gov.uk coronavirus data site...which is apparently slightly below the average for the UK.

louisejxxx · 21/11/2020 12:34

Yes I agree @PineappleUpsideDownCake! My daughter has had a run of extreme bad luck in the run up to this 2nd lock down (broken toe then wrist) and is now desperate to get back to swimming and gymnastics after months without it.

Very selfish as you say, but I worry for her mental health if she cannot go back for a sustained amount of time soon.

PineappleUpsideDownCake · 21/11/2020 12:37

Yep its a huge difference on mental health
But also physical. She does no exercise now and used to do lots. Dark evenings make outdoor play impossible. She looks like she might be overweight too :(

frozendaisy · 21/11/2020 12:57

I think they will concentrate on non essential retail for the run up to Christmas as it will be economic sabotage not to.

Perhaps outdoor sports.
Swimming pools unlikely, boo hiss!
Gyms no chance.

Soft play, theatre, anything else that makes life worth living no.

Shop till you drop, or work, or school, eat, sleep, repeat..........

MummaBear4321 · 21/11/2020 13:03

I selfishly hope some soft plays will open, or even more baby groups, as I have a 2 week old and a 2 year old and it will be a very lonely winter if there is nowhere to go when its raining, but in reality I think the tier systems may be more restrictive than before. My area is about 160 per 100k, so 'low' compared to the rest of the country, but now that there is a vaccine on the horizon I think they will use that as a goal for us, all while keeping restrictions tight.

We may hear a lot of 'There are more tough times ahead, and we must restrict our contact with family and friends to keep numbers low, but we hope the vaccine will be successful and we can eventually lift these restrictions some time next year'.

raviolidreaming · 21/11/2020 13:07

Soft plays still haven't been allowed to reopen in Scotland since the first lockdown 😭😭

Cornettoninja · 21/11/2020 13:11

I personally still wouldn’t go near one but I can see how someone else’s risk/reward would be different.

I wouldn’t expect them to be open on the 2nd, or gyms really, but I wonder if it would be financially viable to allow them open during school hours when restrictions are lifted a bit more.
