Isolating child, house move next week

I'm after some advice. I'm stumped what to do.

We are moving house, completion due to be next Friday. DS's bubble at school has a positive case so they have all been sent home today to isolate for 14 days.

WTF can I do? I can't delay the completion as there's a whole chain relying on it and it's been a long time coming and finally we are all ready.

DH and I don't have to isolate but DS is 7, we can't leave him on his own. Can't send him to my mum who we are a bubble with as she's 76 with underlying conditions. Can't move me and DS into a hotel room for a few days over moving period as they are shut.

Any ideas? Obviously if he does then develop COVID I will have to halt the move but I'm desperate to avoid this.

You'll be fine, just move as normal

They can't keep making us halt our lives like this.

I'd just go ahead. Keep him away from the movers as much as you can. Chances they are positive are tiny.

Ring your solicitor and speak to them, there might be a covid clause in the contract to stall completion because of this. Don’t ignore it or be irresponsible op.

he comes from old house, goes into car and stays there until there is a room in the new house for him to go into.

are there gardens at either end to play in?

Brunt0n · 20/11/2020 18:18

He’s 7? Stick him in the car out of the way with snacks and an iPad. It’ll be fine

OverTheRainbow88 · 20/11/2020 18:18

I would just carry on a move

If they are older they might not want to move in for a few weeks.
1-2% of children are positive i think generally from the random ons data
