Hospitality if re introduced rule of 6.. For a house of 7.

Just wondering if I'm correct in what I'm saying. We'd booked a Christmas event with Santa in Dec. Obviously it will only go ahead if the restrictions are lifted.
Thwyve just called and said if they are we have to sit separately and can't mix for photos.
Were a household of 7. They said that didn't matter and its over the rule of 6.
I believed if same household it didn't apy but I may be wrong.

I believe you’re correct on the guidelines but I guess individual events/places can choose to put their own restrictions on. It is probably easier for them to do this than to have staff making a decision about groups that probably aren’t one household but are claiming to be.

As you are one household I believe this can go ahead. Surely the purpose of the rule of 6 is to limit households mixing. You live together anyway so not being able to mix for photos is just bonkers.

Just looked at govt website and households of 6+ are exempt from this rule.
However, as pp mentioned venues may have own rules in place.

You are definitely correct! However businesses can do what they want so can restrict numbers if they wish. Understandably, they may want to limit the number of people squeezed into the room. Could just one adult not go? Surely it is for the benefit of the dc, not the adults. Sorry if I am wrong in assuming there is more than one adult counted here!

Yeah understand its hard to police. We wanted both to go as its our sons 1st Xmas. And we won't get refunded if one doesnt go. We paid a lot of money for it too.
I could show proof were all one household.

Unfortunately it was a risk booking something like this There was always a high chance it wouldn't work out. To be honest there is no way in hell we would be putting our baby anywhere near a stranger right now!

Tbh in my opinion its not much different to him sitting in a trolley round a supermarket trying the chew the handlebars( arghh) which I do clean but still yuk. There's more people in a supermarket than at the event
So we decided to take the risk.

We’re a family of 7 too and have been places we’ve had to book prior to Lockdown 2.0 without issue (Kew, Tate Modern and some NT places) so I would have thought most places would be ok with it but obvz not? Our youngest is a baby also so it very little infection risk compared to a walking/ talking person.
