Can I still see a friend?

I can not walk very far (Multiple Sclerosis) so exercising with friends is out. Do you think I am allowed to sit on the pavement (in a camping chat) while my friend sits on her door step ? We would be at least 4m apart.

Thanks

Yes

littleblackno · 14/11/2020 13:17

Ive done this with a friend.

Thatwentbadly · 14/11/2020 13:18

Yes it’s allowed in a public place like a pavement, park or national trust property but not a private garden which is not open to the public.

Jrobhatch29 · 14/11/2020 13:18

Yes definitely

TheStripes · 14/11/2020 13:19

Probably not but I would in your situation.

Ilovemycat13 · 14/11/2020 13:21

You are allowed to meet one other person outside of your household at the moment. So you could go on a walk with her if you’d like.

Read the OP.
Racoonworld · 14/11/2020 13:39

You can met one other person outside in a public place. Doesn’t have to be for a walk. You could both meet in a park and sit on a bench and chat.

Imissmoominmama · 14/11/2020 13:41

Only if it’s a pavement which doesn’t have a lot of traffic. I met my friend in the park yesterday- you could do that and both take camping chairs.

Ilovemycat13 · 14/11/2020 14:21

@AcornAutumn I read the OP wrong I thought she said she can’t go for walks because of the lockdown.

No need to be arsey.

Apologies. Lack of basic rights makes me arsey but I shouldn’t take it out on posters. Sorry.

OP I’m sure you can find a way to meet indoors within the law.

ParkheadParadise · 14/11/2020 15:22

Yes, it's allowed.
In the first lockdown, my Friend would come over to mine. We both sat on my steps 2m apart.
We both had a bottle of wine and she would bring her glass🥂🥂

But it is literally the first 5 words of the OP.

You don’t have to walk, or be 2m apart. It just needs to be outdoors in a public space.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2020 16:01

Sorry, that should say you don’t need to be 4m apart, only 2m.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2020 16:02

Only if it’s a pavement which doesn’t have a lot of traffic.
Where is this in the rules?

PandemicImpact · 14/11/2020 16:08

If I sat any closer I would be on her private property which isn't allowed.

Maybe I should get her to come to mine as I need the loo very frequently!

It's not a rule but it's common sense. You can't block a pavement - either you'll annoy those trying to get past, or they will annoy you, or both!

unicornparty · 14/11/2020 16:09

It's allowed if you're not in one of your gardens.

Well, that’s a different question to what’s sensible or not.

The op was asking about what was allowed. People love making up new rules for others to follow. We need to be clear about what the guidelines actually say.

ParkheadParadise · 14/11/2020 16:12

I didn't know you are not allowed in someone's garden.

PurpleDaisies · 14/11/2020 16:14

@ParkheadParadise

I didn't know you are not allowed in someone's garden.
It’s clearly stated in the guidelines.
MrsFezziwig · 14/11/2020 16:14

Yes you can. Obviously I’m sure you’re sensible enough not to block the pavement without needing to be told by people on here.
