Breathlessness, any tips?

Another night, snother question.
DH is on day 7. Has been mildly breathless but seems to get worse as the evening comes. We're not overly concerned at this point but wondered if anyone has any tips or advice on how their breathlessness is/was?
Thanks

Do you have a smartphone?

If so, you could have an oxygen metre. On mine it is in the exercise/fitness app that came with the phone. It measures 'stress'. You just put your finger on the camera and it will give you the level and instruct you if your finger's not quite in the right place.

It's probably not really accurate but will give you an idea of whether his oxygen saturation is going down.

I was exactly the same. It got much better around day 10. Lying on his front in bed will help, it's how they manage covid patients in hospital. Also keeping calm and not panicking.

That said, if lips turn blue/struggling to breathe/you are very concerned then do call 999

Beg, buy, borrow or steal an oximeter and monitor his blood o2. It is normal for symptoms to get better and worse. This week is the critical period.

lovexmaslove · 13/11/2020 19:21

Yes please use an oximeter. Get it on an app if you must but preferable to order one quickly.

Take care.

Monitor this please and get in contact with GP ASAP.

In hospital when patients are struggling for oxygen the staff turn the patient on to their front. I know lying flat on your back isnt recommended as it can impact oxygen so maybe that may help his breathing.

I would also get an oximeter.

You can get them on Amazon quite cheaply and they work well.

Younger patients (under 60) have been found to have much lower levels of O2 than they seemed from symptoms so it's worth it to put your mind at rest about this.

I have an oximeter, sorry I should have said. Worst it's been is 96.
Feel silly now Blush

Thank you all for your comments though. It just seems to be later in the day that he feels more constricted, as he gets more tired I guess.

Dont feel silly, breathlessness is worrying but 96 is good news. Smile If it sits bw 90 and 94 call your gp. Below 90 and go straight to a&e. Hopefully though that wont happen and the breathlessness should go within the week.

Thank you
