Positive covid, after 10 days

Does anyone else feel wary about going back into the world after a positive covis test? Im nearly finished my 10 days, had mild symptoms (sore throat, sore head, fatigue, cough the first day but nothing really after that) and im finding it hard to judge whether im safe to face the world again. Symptoms felt like they were fading yesterday but back again today. Never had a fever, and thats the only listed symptom that would mean you need to isolate further than tge 10 days.

It mentions other symptoms still being there arent an issue, that if you still have a cough or loss of smell, you are fine to leave the house, but it doesnt say anything about general cold/flu symptoms.

If i still have a sore head when my 10 days are up should i still be isolating? Thats been my main consistent symptom, so feels strange that i would be deemed 'safe' while its still there.

In other situations i would be feeling sorry for myself but wouldnt occur to me to stay off work with these symptoms, so its so hard to judge when i didnt have the normal cobid symptoms!

Anyone else been in the same situation?

It's a strange one. You may find that symptoms "echo" for months. That doesnt mean that you are infectious though.

In your position I wouldnt be visiting any elderly relatives til at least14 days were up but, on the other hand, I was still getting very strong symptoms at 3 months and I tested negative then. I've also been tested during 3 more msjor reoccurences (thanks to Zoe app) and have always been negative.

Thank you, thats quite reassuring that although the symptoms linger, im not neccessarily still infectious.

Definitely yes to avoiding vulnerable or elderly for at least 14 days, im so unsure about it all that ill be keeping myself to myself as much as possible now i think.

As I understand you are well past the contagious period, which is for 2-3 days starting a couple of days before you first get symptoms (if not asymptomatic).

It’s not remotely scientific to say this but, I caught COVID from my colleague who had a high fever. He also infected his daughter and his FIL - he was only in contact with the latter for 15 mins! Whereas I had no fever, and didn’t infect any of my family despite living in a 2- bed, 1-bath flat!

Also, the dr told me I could get positive tests for several weeks / months, due to lingering symptoms / dead virus, but that the contagious period was well passed after I had isolated for 7 days (in France).

Looking at the posts on here recently, there have been a few who have said that after the 10 days, they still have a slight temperature and fatigue for a few days longer. Those that have gone back after 10 days, they are shattered after. So take your time, if you are on sick pay, you should continue receiving it without the need for a doctors note.

My dad has an employee who had mild covid. Dad insisted he took the two weeks off as a precaution. When this person came back everyone else was in masks, gloves and keeping their distance. He must have felt like a leper. I think they were all still fearful at 14 days.
