Covid - when will I feel normal again?

My symptoms started 3rd November (high temperature, aching all over, freezing cold one minute, burning up the next) and I subsequently received a positive diagnosis. I'm now on day 10 of isolation and in theory could return to work tomorrow, however I'm still exhausted all the time. The other symptoms have gone but the tiredness remains and I can't wait to feel normal again.

I work in a school and the head has kindly said she doesn't expect me back until the bubble has stopped isolating which is next tuesday, but I'm a 1:1 with a child with additional needs and my job is quite physically and mentally challenging and I'm concerned if I'm not better by then I'm not going to be able to cope.

This morning I wiped down the kitchen surfaces, emptied and loaded the dishwasher and swept the floor and then had to go for a lie down as even just doing that was enough to wipe me out.

If you've had a similar experience how long did it take before the tiredness went?

In my case - a couple of months. However I also know people for whom it took only a week or two, so you may be lucky.

Are you ok now @Porcupineinwaiting? 2 months sounds horrendous you poor thing.

My sister was off work for 2 months afterwards. She’s 20 & no health issues...

OP I am day 14 now and not doing great. Still have high temps every day and struggle out of bed for the loo. I am seeing tiny improvements but its slow. I think we just have to be patient with ourselves. Personally I won't be returning to work until I can manage a full day of normal family activity and eating normal meals. I am a midwife and work 13 hour shifts on my feet.

That's a good example to go by @PrivateD00r thank you, I think if I can manage that I'll know I'll be able to manage full day of work. And yes definitely need to be patient, I'm really struggling with that aspect as I'm never ill and never take time off work but rushing back won't help anyone.

I'm doing pretty well now (7 months on) thanks. Still have a few weird things that come and go but feel mostly myself again.

And yes, please do take it gradually. I know several people who pushed their recovery and really set themselves back.
