Vaccine will cost the govt £600 million

It’s mind boggling the amount of money. That’s for everyone to be vaccinated in the U.K.

What happens if it turns out you need it every year? Can the govt afford £600 million a year? Will we have to buy our own if we want one. Think it equates to £20 a dose that the govt have to pay Pzfifer.......not sure if the £600 million is just the cost of the drug or also includes paying people to transport and administer it?

That's less than 2 weeks worth of the extra brexit money for the nhs. Bargain!

The government invested in the vaccine prior to work starting, they effectively have shares in the schemes and will claim that back in supplies and make money from other countries buying the vaccine

As I understand it they have pre purchased or donated to three possible vaccine manufacturers

The Government spends ridiculous amounts of money on failed projects all the time. Paying back an expensive vaccine through my taxes, however, is not a cost I will resent. Getting as many people vaccinated as possible - particularly those who perhaps wouldn't otherwise be able to afford it - is absolutely a Very Good Thing for our country.

Without any evidence to back this up, I'd wager that the people with the most human contact are the lower earners. If you have a big enough pile of cash and/or a white-collar office job, you can typically isolate without your life being disrupted that much. Broadly, it's the people who are most at risk who can least afford the vaccine and we want as many people vaccinated as we can, so we should make it free of charge and we should make it accessible.
