On shielding list Pneumococcal Vaccination invite

I was on the shielded list and have received an invitation ‘ticket’ from my GP today offering me an appointment to go for a pneumococcal vaccination later this month. I have never had one of these vaccinations before but have had the flu jab every year for the last 8 years. Has anyone else received anything similar? I looked it up and it is to protect against pneumonia. Thanks

Yes, I had it in September although I paid for it myself. I felt tired and off colour after it, for about 2 days. A bit like mild flu?

I’d say as vaccinations go, it was ok.

I had it last year, no issues.

It's a one-off jab IIRC.

I was offered it a couple of years ago as I am eligible for a flu jab. I had it and it was fine. No after effects at all.

The nurse told me DS was eligible when I took him for his flu vaccination a couple of days ago however the surgery had run out of the pneumonia vaccination so he will have it next month.

Had it late last year or early this.

It was such a non-event that I can't even remember exactly when it was!

I got one with my flu jab last year - I wasn’t called up for it specifically, but it was advised as I am living with leukaemia (and yes am on the shielding list)

I had quite a sore arm afterwards

I had it years ago with a flu jab. It's a one off yes because I then asked for it the next year thinking I needed it annually but was told no just the one.

I've had this, I paid for it (PPV) last year, I had insomnia after for 2 nights but otherwise felt fine.

We also had one. My hubby had both the flu and that jab at the same time and had a sore arm (I think it covers something like 21 bacterias?) I had my jabs separately and was fine. It protects you from the bacterial strains. You just need one.

One of the least effective vaccines apparently, but still worth having.
Just have it the once unless you have renal failure, no spleen and in a few other instances.
Stock issues in our area, there are every year so make your mind up quickly.

I had it in February. I think they normally give it to the very elderly but they gave it to me as I have a lung condition.

I am also on the shielding list and have been asked to shield again, I got the pneumovax jab several years ago when I was diagnosed with my lung condition, It was fine as pp have said.

Yes I had it. It's not a live vaccine and I had no ill effects.

Had it few years ago when asthma was t controlled very well and I was having a tough winter. No ill effects atall x

My husband has had it along with flu jab due to him having a triple heart bypass in May. I think they’ve really pushed it this year and I know a few people who had pneumonia, one a 27 year old who spent Christmas in hospital.

My ds had the vaccine age 11. After various issues with what was thought to be sudden onset severe asthma Hmm, i asked for immunoglobulin tests. He showed to be completely deficient for pneumococcal antibodies. 1 jab cured ever since! He's 24 now
