Having a hot drink on a walk

Trumpyouredone · 11/11/2020 09:22

So if I meet up with a friend for a SD walk, are we allowed to stop and sit down and have a flask of tea/coffee to warm us up?
Was thinking of suggesting this to her, but not sure it's in the rules.

Yes that is fine

canigooutyet · 11/11/2020 09:24

Suppose if you have your own flask it should be ok.

LawnFever · 11/11/2020 09:24

Yes, if you’re being particularly careful you could each bring your own drinks

CaptainMyCaptain · 11/11/2020 09:25

I went to a nearby National Trust property for a walk on Sunday. The cafe and take away wagon were serving hot drinks and people were sitting on benches, suitably distanced, to drink them.

Akire · 11/11/2020 09:25

Yes takeaways are open and you can be outside with one other person SD.

Jrobhatch29 · 11/11/2020 09:37

I'm about to meet my dad for a walk and takeaway coffee

Trumpyouredone · 11/11/2020 09:38

That great, thanks for the replies!

Yep me and my first went for a lovely dog walk and we stopped at the local supermarket and got ourselves a takeaway Costa ! All social distancing and that ! X

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2020 09:41

I’m using it an an opportunity to support local businesses still open for take away.

Sunshineandflipflops · 11/11/2020 09:56

Yes, me and my friend went for a jog the other day and stopped on the way back and got a taker away coffee to walk the rest of the way home with. It was lovely actually and something I'd never think to do normally.

DepuisToujours · 11/11/2020 10:04

A friend and I got takeaway coffees (from separate shops) and then met at the park for a walk last week. It was lovely actually that we can do that. You can even do it with babies / toddlers in tow I think, although I haven't done that yet.

Barton10 · 11/11/2020 10:08

Yes that is what I am planning on doing with my daughter this weekend.

OpheliasCrayon · 11/11/2020 11:06

Of....course ?

BarbaraofSeville · 11/11/2020 11:34

Why wouldn't it be?

Great idea.
LaVitaPuoEsserePiuBella · 11/11/2020 11:53

It keeps me sane.
Thank God for takeaway coffee.

Thatwentbadly · 11/11/2020 11:57

Yes, you can have a full picnic if you wanted to. Either bring your own or a take away.

cheezy · 11/11/2020 11:59

I’m surprised that people spend time questioning this. Why on earth wouldn’t it be okay?

pastandpresent · 11/11/2020 12:06

MN is a support forum, there's nothing wrong in asking any question if someone is unsure.

MrsJonesAndMe · 11/11/2020 12:27

I'm supporting the local independent by getting a take away when we are having a walk or going to the park.

OneLinePlease · 11/11/2020 12:36

Yeah. A nice walk and chat with a warm drink is a joy of winter. Very easily done safely.

BogRollBOGOF · 11/11/2020 12:42

As long as you don't have crisps on a bench Grin

It's fine. You can meet a friend outside in public. Exercise and hot drinks optional.

PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2020 12:47

As long as you don't have crisps on a bench

That’s my greatest pleasure in life at the moment.
I need to get out more...

I'm a secret fan of crafty mid-long run crisps and coke on a bench. Salt to replace that lost in sweat, quick release carbs and fluids. It's a great performance booster Grin
PurpleDaisies · 11/11/2020 12:56

I’ll have to try that @BogRollBOGOF! I’m mainly eating the crisps without the run...
