I'm reading more and more about people getting positive results without a cough or fever and it's just overwhelming a little.

I suffer with ibs, chronic headaches, sinsus' issues which leads to a cough and sore throat.

I constantly have what would be considered mild covid symptoms but that's just normal for me. I care for my dad and grandparents so I need to see them.

I can't stop seeing my dad or grandparents but I'm constantly worried that I could have covid without realising. I'm in the at risk group due to my BMI (get the flu jab through the NHS) so I'm living with the assumption that if I got it I would have proper symptoms but what if I don't and my normal illnesses just mask it?

Does anyone else live with covid like symptoms on the daily and feel like they don't know what to do?

I feel so sick today without actually being sick but some movement the other way. I don't know if it's my ibs, gerd, anxiety or possible covid urgh!!

I tested positive when I had no real symptoms. Even now, two weeks later, the only recognised symptom I’ve had is a loss of sense of smell, and that didn’t happen until I was over the worst.

Allamericanreject · 10/11/2020 13:58

I never have any smell due to my sinsus' Sad
This is what worries me because I have caring responsibility I can't just isolate until a vaccine but I can't pass it on to them either.

I had a cough which lasted half an hour and just needed a big cough to stop. I think it's just my nasal drip due to my sinsus' but I have booked a covid test tomorrow and will self isolate.
Fingers crossed.

Had my covid test..they expect you to do it yourself???!!!

My results will be inconclusive because I just couldn't do it. Nope.

SpookyNoise · 11/11/2020 15:18

Why couldn’t you do it? It’s not pleasant, but it’s not hard to do.

Allamericanreject · 11/11/2020 19:48

Couldn't do the throat test as I kept gagging 1 second in and my tongue kept blocking it. For the nose I couldn't get it in deep enough (could still see the end of the swab). Was crying my eyes out and just couldn't do it.

When I had to get one done for a hospital admission perviously it was done by a nurse and I ended up with a nose bleed and a black eye from the nostril swab and vomitting and wetting myself from the gagging with the throat swab.

My doctor says I have a hypersensitive gag reflex and thin skin of the inside of my nose (reoccurring nose bleeds)

If all that happened with a nurse doing it no way could I push through and do it myself. I wouldn't have went and go tested if I realised I would have to do it myself.

I would make sure you are wearing a mask and gloves during any contact op, and keep your distance

Keepdistance · 11/11/2020 20:01

I agree with last poster. You cant guarantee symptoms so need mask etc and distance as much as possible.
Are you on vit d?
Have you tried olbas oil inhalation for the sinuses?

Alidalivali · 11/11/2020 20:04

Hmm, yes I had to do my own test today and I'm worried maybe I didn't do it right - I'm not one for gagging at all, but my tongue kept blocking it too! I poked as far back as I dared and scratched around in there a bit, and managed the nostril one OK, but you're right it is tricky.

My only real symptom is a cough, but I have terrible pain around my back and ribs - day 4 now and it's not easing up. I know one person who had it and he said the back pain was one of the worst things about it.

I think if you suffer from chronic illness, you'd need to look out for something out of the ordinary for you? You know your own body best. You could always try getting a new test done at a testing station instead?

Allamericanreject · 11/11/2020 22:24

I try to make sure I'm always wearing a mask but unfortunately the room where my dad is at is too small to keep distance. I'm on a multi vitamin which included vitamin D and tried everything under the sun for my sinsus'.

I don't know how anyone can do their own test especially having to do a child's. This was at a testing station but it's all just do your own unfortunately 😟

I have had a headache which is much worse the last week and a sore back/kidneys but I contributed it to a head cold and UTI (I have thrush ATM and usually it comes with a UTI) but reading some people's symptoms here and that they are signs and that half an hour cough, pushed me to get tested. I really hope I don't have it as I saw my dad last week.

Inconclusive result. Called it. Fucking impossible to do the test yourself

JamminDoughnuts · 13/11/2020 11:16

when i went a month ago they offered to do it if i wanted.

Allamericanreject · 13/11/2020 16:12

I asked for the help when I was there. (They have you put your hazards on) and they said they dont do it and you have to do your own. This is in Northern Ireland so maybe it's different here?
When I called 119 today they said I would just need to do it again myself and if I couldn't there was no point and just to isolate.

I can't be the only one this is happening too surely?

My sister and adult nephew had to both swab themselves... greater Manchester.

frosted232 · 13/11/2020 16:44

I had to do mine myself and thought it was common practice? I'd rather do my own than have someone who's been in contact with a lot of potentially positive people touching me. I don't think it would make much difference who was doing it if you have a sensitive gag reflex though.

Hi OP

I have a chronic cough which can be aggravated by all sorts of things. It is quite bad at the moment which I think is due to being out in the cold weather.

I have booked time off work to go to the dentist next week. I have ordered a covid test to be on the safe side. I don't think I will go to the dentist unless I can get a negative result before the appointment.

I am probably being over cautious but better safe than sorry.
