Would you send your DC to school where multiple cases confirmed?

Had email yesterday saying multiple cases confirmed in DC (primary) school. Not in DC’s class but in year group which is official ‘bubble’ (and various other year groups) although my child not being asked to isolate as not close contact. Both children and staff have confirmed cases.

Usually relatively calm about Covid but this has really unsettled me - I don’t feel comfortable sending them in but I don’t know if this is unreasonable...

Yes I would

winetime89 · 08/11/2020 18:42

Yes I would.

MissScarletInTheSnug · 08/11/2020 18:44

The school I work in and the one my daughter goes to both have confirmed cases, I think it is fairly common now. IME most schools are good at SD / bubbles

MushMonster · 08/11/2020 18:45

I have done so. There have been confirmed cases in her school. Though here they send the whole year to isolate if they confirm a case. For the bubble pupils, their whole household has to isolate.

BarefootHippieChick · 08/11/2020 18:45

Yes I would, but then my kids are at Secondary where we've already had a ton of cases and one of mine having to self isolate as a result of one of those cases.

ChristopherLillicrap · 08/11/2020 18:45

If the positive cases are not close contacts then yes I would send them to school.

toptreeroots1 · 08/11/2020 18:49

Yeah I would
As long as she can be there she will be

flowerycurtain · 08/11/2020 18:50

I would but my dh would move into our caravan so he could continue to work I'd the cases headed our way.

I want my kids to have every minute of education they can at the moment as I can foresee it stopping sometime before spring.

SoloMummy · 08/11/2020 19:19

I would and have kept home, but I'm cev/shielder.
I anticipate repeats tbh.
The bubbles in primary imo are too big.

SoloMummy · 08/11/2020 19:20

And though I've withdrawn my child due to the cases, my lo is completing all school work and this time the school has been fab.

mamaduckbone · 08/11/2020 19:24

Yes. I would trust that the school have done their job and asked the close contacts to self-isolate.

ThisOneIsHardWork · 08/11/2020 19:27

No I wouldn't.

NoGoodPunsLeft · 08/11/2020 19:32

I would but only because she is healthy, we're the right side of 45 (just) & I couldn't cope with WFH & school work (new, v busy job recently versus furlough in lock down).

I'd be concerned if there was a case in her class though because it's a small, unventilated room & 'close contacts' are basically bollocks, it's everyone who is exposed.

Beebityboo · 08/11/2020 19:48

No

Waxonwaxoff0 · 08/11/2020 20:06

Yep, no choice really as I can't work from home and as a single parent my income is a necessity. DS will be attending school until the bitter end.

Nervousnamechanger20 · 08/11/2020 20:58

Thanks all. I’ve calmed down a bit now and will be sending DC to school while I still can... I do wonder how long schools can stay open though Sad

Yes, they’ll be at school as long as they are allowed to be.

SomewhereEast · 08/11/2020 22:07

Yes

Todayisgood2 · 08/11/2020 22:20

No I wouldn't, too risky for my liking

Northernsoulgirl45 · 09/11/2020 06:21

@SoloMummy dd3 primary bubble is 90 and several staff
Dd1 and dd2 secondary bubbles are 100 and 250

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/11/2020 06:22

We’ve had a couple of positive tests and my children still attend. It’s going to be a long old toad out of this pandemic and my children still need to be educated.

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/11/2020 06:22

*road

ConiferGate · 09/11/2020 06:25

No

WithoutATtrace · 09/11/2020 06:29

No I would not, your the parent thou so do what's best for your child.

CodenameVillanelle · 09/11/2020 06:29

@MushMonster

I have done so. There have been confirmed cases in her school. Though here they send the whole year to isolate if they confirm a case. For the bubble pupils, their whole household has to isolate.
This isn't right is it? It's not the whole household who isolates, only the person in contact
