In north wales here.... so very confused now about what's what... what is classes as a support bubble? Is this the 6 people thing or? I give up with it all now. Obviously im staying away, wearing mask etc but so confused about what's 'allowed' and not!

My 92 year old nan lives over the border (England, 10 mins in the car) i said I'll take her shopping to her and she said i cant as im her granddaughter and not her daughter?... huh?

A support bubble is for a single person or single parent with children under 18 to join with another household and can socialise normally with them .

A support bubble is formed when a household links with another household. One of the households has to have a single person, or lone parent, with no other adult in the household.

Once a support bubble is made, if it ends, the household can't form another support bubble with a different household.

You can take her shopping to her as you are caring for her. You won't be in her support bubble though.

For example my parents live together so they can't be in a support bubble with me and my dd. I can however take them their shopping and do anything else they need as I care for them.

Following on from above post- they are unable to do their own shopping.

Assuming your nan lives alone, and as long as you are allowed to travel under the Welsh guidelines, then you can form a support bubble with your nan and take her shopping to her. You are then treated as if you are one household and could even stay overnight at hers (or she could at yours).

You are not required to be a relative to form a support bubble.

Once formed you cannot chop and change who you are in a support bubble with.

Hmm okay then thanks.. so as im caring for her then i can take her stuff? Even if her son (my uncle) and my dad takes her stuff when they can but can very busy with work so sometimes she gets left alone for 3 days.. she can shower herself and cooks basic meals but obviously with her age needs extra support sometimes

@Calmandmeasured1

Well this is the thing too... she lives in england and all the family are in wales but 10 mins over the border..if we are not "allowed" to travel due to restrictions then what? She has nobody else in England to help her x

You don't have to even be related to be a support bubble. It's for people who are single and need company/general support. As long as there's no conflict with traveling over the border, it's fine. If she has someone else she can form a bubble with, l think it's fair to say you could still do shopping, drop it off at doorstep and have a 2m+ distance chat.

Racoonworld · 05/11/2020 21:09

You can bring her shopping. It's allowed under care.

Lougle · 05/11/2020 21:11

You don't need to be in a support bubble to 'provide care for a vulnerable person'. If you're helping her out with supplies, etc., then you're providing care for vulnerable person.
