Possible symptoms - best steps to take

I’ve been working for the last few months but this morning I noticed a tickle in my throat and feel like I need to cough/have coughed a few times. I’m WFH today.

However, I live in a house with an ECV person (DH). At the moment I’m in a separate room And have been since this morning. But is there any other steps I can take to make sure DH stays as low risk as possible?

I have no other symptoms and I appreciate I sound paranoid but I do have serious concerns about DH catching the virus. I will be booking a test if I am still coughing this afternoon

Sorry to hear you may be unwell.

I think using a separate bathroom if you can. If not then wiping down after use. Same with kitchen.

Wearing a mask (a surgical one if you can get hold of it)

Ventilate the house well worth windows open

Don’t make food/drinks for him

Hope you both stay well

Also sanitise all common touch points

Take vit D and zinc (both of you)

Buy an oximeter so if he gets unwell you can monitor him

LabradorGalore · 05/11/2020 13:12

Thanks guys. We have an oximeter anyway and I’ve been taking vit D. I’ll decamp into a separate bit of the house and use a different toilet in the meantime.

I feel largely ok, but I guess you can’t tell with a virus so I’d rather try and keep DH as safe as possible

The cough is a new continuous cough that lasts around an hour. Or 3 coughing episodes in 24 hours.

Just book a test.

Capacity is much improved compared to September and at least you know what you’re dealing with.

@Cornettoninja OP us booking a test. She’s asked what mitigation she can do in the meantime

Both of you take high strength vitamin D3 ASAP... there's no short term toxicity associated with vit D, take 8000 - 10,000 iu on the first couple of days (if you need a loading dose if you've not been taking it already) then around 4000 iu per day. Caveat, check if you have a medical condition incompatible with vit D, such as Williams syndrome.

Also take 30 - 50 mg of zinc and either a quercetin or EGCG (green tea extract) supplement, which help with zinc transport across the cell membrane. Also 500 - 1000 mg vitamin C.

Limit sugar, refined food and alcohol and get plenty of sleep.
