Is the tide turning? Is public support for restrictions waning?

Are the public tired of it all now? It certainly seems that way from the smattering of FB posts I've seen. Businesses going under, interference in people's personal life, rules that make no sense and so on...

Traffic was heavier here than the rest of the week this morning, I drive into and out if the city to take my daughter to school. Because so much more is staying open this time, especially schools I think this has led to people being more relaxed about things and not following the rules. We will but we don’t socialise anyway and none of the stuff we do is open so I couldn’t break the rules even if I wanted to.

Definitely, I think last time was unique and most people seriously believed it would all be over after lockdown. There's a huge anti lockdown protest in London tonight and the same has been happening across Europe. Furlough is all very well but there have been too many job losses that will only continue to rise and that's were civil unrest will come to play.

I think people are now really questioning what we are being told; the statistics and the science plus the fact that the government don’t have a clue what they’re doing so are less likely to follow rules that make no sense and politicians don’t even bother following

How can we trust them?

And if you tolerate this then your children will be next...

Oh wait...

I think most people I know are planning to follow the rules but not go above and beyond. Myself included.

Before Lockdown 1 I had already started avoiding coffee shops and didn't go for a while once they had reopened. Today I got a takeaway coffee on a walk.

SufferingFromLongLockdown · 05/11/2020 22:33

Yes I agree, I'm following the rules and have noted the exceptions.
I bought a takeaway coffee and copious amounts of chocolate and say in the sun.. All very essential to making my day that bit more joyful.

With the schools open this time it feels more normal. I worked through the last lockdown and will work through this one.
Going to miss swimming though.
We have been under restrictions since July in the North West and I think if we come out of these 4 weeks back into Tier 3 there will be a riot. I have not seen my Dad since June. I think it is the not seeing family when I can spend all day in an office with colleagues that is starting to grate. I could leave pubs and restaurants myself if we were allowed to see people.

No complying where I live,we are all carrying on as we were earlier in the week. Most people have realised we are being hoodwinked big time.

The virus is real, but shutting down an entire country! It has become obvious that lockdowns cause way more problems than they solve.

How can they “ban” protests! That is a concerning development. There have been protests in Liverpool and London tonight, those are just two I know about.

It really comes down to enforcement action, doesn’t it? When the police start issuing fines, people will start taking notice. It’s gone too far to rely on basic public spiritedness.
