Covid vaccine by Christmas

I came across this articles and I was hopeful it might offer some good news...until I read the 1st paragraph!! 😳 seriously?

"The NHS is preparing to administer ANY potential coronavirus vaccine before Christmas, as it was revealed that the number of Covid in-patients in England was equivalent to 22 hospitals full of patients."

Sounds a bit desperate...knowing quite well that there is no way any of the vaccines can be cleared in terms if safety in a month's time! False hope is not what we need right now...

I think it means 'any vaccine that might be approved between now and then' rather then 'any old vaccine they find knocking around' iyswim 😊

Hello , yes preparations are underway to be able to vaccinate nhs staff asap when the vaccine has been approved.

Its entirely the right thing to be doing because it takes a lot of organisation & staff with different skills to deliver a vaccine program.

It was the best work email i have had in such a long time when i got this about vaccine preparedness.

It would be absolutely fabulous to hit Hogmanay knowing that a vaccine has been approved and the roll out has begun. It makes going into 2021 a whole lot better than the 2020 we'll be leaving behind.

Yes please shot in each arm just in case.

I am ready to move on from this.

I mean don't get me wrong I am all for a vaccine, but surely the oxford vaccine (which I believe is at the phase 3 stage) won't be approved in a months time? So the mass vaccination will be largely experimental...Hmm

My understanding is that there’s a reasonable chance they make their numbers by the end of the month. Once the data is there, the approval process isn’t very lengthy.
