Having work done in house during lockdown?

What are view on this please? I'm talking about nice to have stuff (putting up shelves, installing new loo, other maintenance/ improvements) not emergency flood or other crisis type works.

In the original lockdown it was pretty clear this was a no no, everyone was to stay home etc, but this time certainly local to me it seems like people are taking a much more relaxed approach...my DC is going into the office and expected to continue to do so (furloughed in first lockdown), our local council refuse sites are all open, we have a boiler annual service booked in next week and the (national) co have said it will go ahead.

So should I be getting quotes/ arranging for work to be done or waiting to Dec? One thing I did want to sort out but now cant was carpet. I was intending to have gone out to look for one this week to hopefully get it fitted before Christmas. Possibly not much chance of that now!

We’re having a bathroom fitted next week. Not our choice as it’s a rented house which has had an unusable bath for 3 months. It makes me very uneasy tbh. I’m worried we’ll get in trouble for it and the workman didn’t bother wearing a mask inside last time when he was here talking to me for more than an hour. We’re also meant to be having our roof repaired (where’s the emoticon for living in a crumbling pile of shite?) which I’m less bothered about as they won’t be actually inside.

AFAIK it’s fine as the tradesmen can’t work from home. I know decorators and others I’ve used have announced on Facebook it’s business as usual and it’s allowed.

Didn't Boris say construction should stay open - I would class tradespeople under construction.

It is certainly still legal were I am, so I don't have any problem with having workpeople home into my home. We are just being very conscientious about social distancing and hygiene while they are in the house.

Here is the confirmation for England that you can work in people's homes. It also has health and safety guidance about managing covid risks during the work.

Thanks all - my DC works in surveying, and their builders are all on site, just wanted to be sure it was the same for domestic stuff too. Obviously will make sure to social distance when anyone is here etc.
