Any other cold school staff out there?

First world problem, but I'm a primary teacher and my god school is freezing with all the windows open (which I know is necessary) and no heating. I'm wearing lots of layers, but I just feel so so cold during the day, and I've got a 30 weeks old baby inside me for some internal warmth! Anyone feeling the same?! Brrrrr.

Sounds similar to what I'm hearing DBML from ex colleagues and of course from ds.

Why isn't the media picking up on this? Surely they have friends/family/children who work/attend school and know how cold they are getting.

Its grim. A big proportion of Dd’s year 11 have been sent home to isolate and the whole of year 10 are isolating. DD has mocks in a week or two its awful. Meanwhile they are freezing cold, stressed, wondering who is going to be next to go off with covid and how many will have to isolate.

@canigooutyet I think the media are avoiding it as schools must stay open at all costs, so anything negative in the press wouldn't do this any favours. I'm all for schools staying open, but in more manageable conditions!

Thermal everything, and my feet are still like blocks of ice.

So I am @Flatwhite32 just not like this.

Ds says there was plenty of students/staff today with their own flasks and insulated cups.

It's shocking how teachers are getting shat on from a great height by some pleb sitting in a comfy warm office somewhere.

DD is back next week after two week half term. I went thermal crazy - leggings and socks to replace tights. Thermal vests. Snood. Fingerless gloves. She's in a strict uniform type of school. Logos and lengths must be just right. I've gone for warmth at every part of her I can around her kilt and blazer. I even might get her to wear my sport ear warmer as a head band Grin

I've been in this week. It's bloody cold. And I'm in a new ish build.

It's problematic with heads wanting their staff well and present so if they ventilate excessively, the chances of spread are less. Heating off. Windows open.

Guidelines seem to say different.

We are not our grandparents generation. We don't own woollen clothes. We are sedentary. Being cold fucks with my mental health.

Sorry just seeing some of these comments now

I am lucky enough to go in and out of some schools

Teaching staff have amazed me
The way they have dealt with all of this and the amount of work that goes is before and after lessons
It will get easier
So many of us appreciate all the teaching staff xxx
