Got a bit lost in all the other news today I think- main points being masks for all at secondary in communal areas and ECV staff to work from home.

The morning, so the school management have a chance to plan and disseminate information to staff and pupils? Order spare masks? Work on a protocol for non compliance and a list of exempt pupils?

Danglingmod · 05/11/2020 06:57

Well, what are parents supposed to do if their dc don't have masks, for a start?

JocelynSchitt · 05/11/2020 06:59

@PineappleUpsideDownCake

Secondary Schools near me have this already (england.)

I had wondered about ecv and if they'd get pay or sick pay and if it would disrupt numbers. I think in March it was was cv and ecv that went off in many schools forcing them to close

Yes that was the case in my school. We couldnt staff it due to so much staff sickness and our Ecv and cv staff. School stayed open to yr 11, 7, 8 and 13 the longest.

In my dept 1 has diabetes, and another three were on the shielding list last time. I think two of those three are classed as ecv. So, thats half the department.

@notevenat20

The guidance was released very close to or even after the end of the school day.

When is a better time?

Days before so that parents and schools can prepare.
Danglingmod · 05/11/2020 07:05

Yes, how are staff supposed to now deal with shielding teachers or other key staff being at home with no notice? Shielding was reintroduced yesterday after they'd explicitly said it wasn't going to happen.

I have wondered what today will look like when my children go in.

With ecv have just gone!?

It's like they want to make schools look like shit. Again.

That makes sense. Somehow people seem to talk about the time of day as if that's important. But having enough time in total to prepare is definitely good.

Comefromaway · 05/11/2020 10:34

It looks like dh's school don't know about it as he has just texted me to ask if I can send him a link to the guidance.

ineedaholidaynow · 05/11/2020 11:59

We had a letter from DS's school this morning saying the guidance state that schools need to implement this as soon as possible and by 9th at the latest. They had been recommending masks in corridors etc before now, but will now be mandatory and they have detailed which other times/areas masks need to be worn.
