How risky is a trip to the hairdressers. Had an appointment booked for tomorrow but now worried about it.

Lots of variables, how many cases in your area? How old are you? Any health issues? How careful is your hairdresser about precautions? etc, etc.

fishnchops · 03/11/2020 22:12

Late 40's, no health issues but dd is medically vulnerable (not in shielding group though). In SE so rates lower than some areas. Haven't been to the hairdressers in 1 year & I look a mess!

No risk. Masks, sanitising between customers etc

Augustbreeze · 03/11/2020 22:47

Difficult one. I personally wouldn't with a vulnerable child. Although of course if she attends school there's loads more direct risk there, so maybe it's fine!

Dancingalong · 03/11/2020 22:54

I would personally be happy to go but it’s personal preference. Please though if you cancel, cancel early tomorrow to allow them time to fill your slot. Lots of hairdressers are working late and extra hours to fit clients in before they close

I went a few weeks ago, after not having had it done done March! It was absolutely fine. My stylist was in mask and visor and I was the only client in there. A zillion times safer than the supermarket.

Augustbreeze · 03/11/2020 23:02

I think tomorrow of all days might be quite busy at the hairdresser's.....

Christmaspud20 · 03/11/2020 23:04

Ours also uses disposable aprons.
Scissors etc washed after each person

LilyPond2 · 03/11/2020 23:36

How big a salon? One hairdresser with one customer in at a time is lower risk than several hairdressers meaning lots of people in the salon at the same time. Are they strict on mask wearing? Do you have a good quality mask? Time is also a risk factor, so having something done that takes a long time is higher risk than a quick trim.

IceCreamAndCandyfloss · 04/11/2020 13:52

Depends on what you are having done, a quick trim for a few minutes would be less risky than a full colour etc. Sanitiser doesn’t stop airbourne transmission which is the main cause.
