I thought I would make this thread for those of us who are essential workers and going out to work as normal during lock down. Be it a place to vent or if you just need some where to just chat. You will be welcome here Flowers

and another was sent to me with symptoms that could be Covid-19

Update: she tested positive.

Vivana · 05/11/2020 01:10

Had my covid test done and probably positive after caring for 10 covid residents in the past week.

@Vivana hope you don't have to wait too long for a result. It reminds me a bit of those adverts on daytime TV: "Have you caught a virus at work that wasn't your fault...?"

NullcovoidNovember · 05/11/2020 07:43

Thanks op.
Lock down is not really happening in my house.
Through work and dc school between us we are exposed to 100s and 100s of other people and families. One dd bubble is 200 strong. Through work I am also exposed to a great many people!
So minimising exposure outside of work, which we have been doing anyway, won't impact us.

NullcovoidNovember · 05/11/2020 07:47

Lotus, people can start threads on whatever they like, how arrogant to make this early remarks.

I'm feeling extremely nervous and I am grateful to the op. Boris Johnson had said, the NHS won't be there for us because of collapse. And yet many of us are having to still face just as much risk as before.

glitterelf · 05/11/2020 07:51

I've worked throughout and as a Childminder I'm used to wfh but it's taking its toll on me and I'm not sure how much longer I can go on for. People's attitudes have changed and there's much more selfishness out there. This lockdown nothing will change for me, everyday is Groundhog Day.

OpheliasCrayon · 05/11/2020 07:52

I'm bloody happy to be going!

Hyperbolistic · 05/11/2020 08:32

I only know 1 person on furlough. All my family and friends have gone out of the house to work throughout lockdown 1 and 2 a mixture of essential and non essential workers. The only difference during lockdown 1 was that key workers were entitled to childcare. It's stressful for everyone not just 'essential' workers.

lotusbell · 06/11/2020 07:30

@NullcovoidNovember, of course they can, no one is saying otherwise. But you can't deny that the title of this thread is goady af and that no one really wants to go through the whole 'I'm a key worker, look at all you lot on.furlough who are having a lovely lockdown learning languages and baking bread' scenario for a 2nd time. Lockdown is rough on all.of us, in different ways without suggesting those who are working throughout this one need more support.
I'm not a keyworker but my job is still going.im extremely lucky to be working at all. I don't need support. Yes, some do, those in schools and hospitals etc.but we're all in this together and theres no need for more division.

I have two jobs and have worked throughout. I was jealous of others not having to work and have the extra risk originally, although, I appreciate they had their own concerns with that. Especially this time though, I recognise it's good to have structure in my day.

One thing I wrestle with is the fact one of my employers is extremely Covid secure going above general requirements, my other place if work is hot and stuffy, no ppe allowed and no SD.

DH still needs to go in one day a week which I'm pleased with, as he's not seeing his two main friends as one is extremely clinically vulnerable, the other is a germaphobe. His only company is me otherwise.

JorisBonson · 06/11/2020 08:02

Police officer, been travelling to work all year. Trains and tubes are disgustingly busy, even this week.

nannynick · 06/11/2020 08:07

Foggy mornings, such fun. On the plus side didn't need to scrape the car this morning.

BeyondMyWits · 06/11/2020 08:10

I work in a community pharmacy and I'm knackered.

Everyone working from home quite rightly want to pick up their meds locally to home. Our already heavy workload has more than doubled since March. We have staff self isolating, we have staff home with covid. Life has become monotone for those lucky few left... eat, work, eat, sit, sleep, repeat...

annabel85 · 06/11/2020 08:21

If it makes you feel any better it's not a lockdown. They've just shut more hospitality venues.

Rollingdragon · 06/11/2020 08:29

I have been working all the way through, and I feel really lucky to have been. I would really struggle to be stuck at home all the time, with no structure. Add to that financial worries, and I hate to think how people are feeling!

PleasantVille · 06/11/2020 08:34

I don't understand, how would that make those of us going to work feel better? It isn't even true.

Are you in England? I go to work through a town centre and it's deserted, Tesco is open and I believe the banks are later in the day but nothing else, maybe all those businesses missed a memo

Vivana · 06/11/2020 15:31

Just got my covid test through and negative
