Clinically Extremely Vulnerable

The new guidance, following the PM's announcement on Saturday says :

"There is a further group of people who are defined, also on medical grounds, as clinically extremely vulnerable to coronavirus – that is, people with specific serious health conditions. Over this period, we are advising the CEV to work from home. If you cannot work from home, you are advised not to go to work and may be eligible for Statutory Sick Pay (SSP) or Employment Support Allowance (ESA). You are encouraged to stay at home as much as possible, but are encouraged to go outside for exercise. The full new guidance will be published on Monday 2 November and the Government will write to everybody who is clinically extremely vulnerable to set out detailed advice while the new restrictions are in place."

Was the full guidance published yesterday? I can't find anything.

I can’t find it either.

With changes to furlough, maybe they're updating this bit, so CEV qualify automatically for furlough?

I hope so. These include people whose jobs exist, and who would be doing them, except for the government saying to them WFH and do not attend workplace at all.

Still nothing or have I missed it?

@1stV45 it's updated now on the gov website

No mandatory furlough and it's still at the discretion of the employer. I have asked but been refused furlough again.

I can't survive on ESA alone this time as my mortgage holiday has finished now, so I'll have to keep working.

@YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan that’s awful of your employer. Surely no one should have to choose between risking their health or losing their job? I hope someone sees sense and changes the rules.

I'll still have a job. I'll just have to go on unpaid leave and claim benefits if I choose to stop off work like I did before.

Only this time there is no mortgage holiday or any other help with housing costs. I can't afford to go on benefits as it doesn't cover our basic living costs - food, shelter and warmth.

I rang the council and have been offered a volunteer to go shopping for me, a befriending phone line and a book service where someone will drop off a random book to read and they'll return a few days later to swap it for another one. That's nice to have but not really helpful to me.

Oh and the best bit, my health condition flares up when I'm stressed so I'm supposed to avoid stressful situations! Deep breaths and all that Hmm
