You can go out for non essentials if you click and collect!
I thought they were trying to keep people indoors as much as possible?

What non essential retailers are allowing click and collect? And where do you collect?

Trying to help retail as much as possible no great human contact picking goods up in a car

satnighttakeaway · 02/11/2020 20:44

I guess it's about keeping people away from other people as much as possible, it's not designed to keep the population under house arrest.

If you pick something up from a covid secure pick up point the risk is way lower than you going round the shop to buy it, it's a workable compromise. Are you saying it's a bad thing?

Car dealerships

Can't see a problem? The aim is the limit social interaction not destroy retailers. It's not an obligation though, don't use it if you dislike it.

You can click and collect from anywhere that's offering the service, you would need to find out from the individual retailer where the pick up point is, there's no set way to do it

Great idea. Helping to keep retail shops in existence. Agree wholeheartedly with this decision

Our local town has a lot of local retailers who are offering click & collect from Thursday, wool, card, gift, toy shops etc etc.. they're all small independents and to be honest I don't blame them if it's allowed, they're also online but offering a collection service, I'd much rather use a small independent during this time to collect a gift from on an exercise stroll than order off amazon or buy from the supermarket. I don't see a problem. When I ordered from an indie during the last lockdown they just left the parcel on the doorstep when I arrived and it was no contact, 20 sec pick up.

Sparklingbrook · 02/11/2020 20:48

I don't see the issue, what am I missing here?

You can do a Click and Collect from Waitrose for John Lewis online, takes a couple of minutes. Some stores will even take it out to the car for you.

purpleme12 · 02/11/2020 21:03

It's not a full lockdown like before though is it
More business will be staying open than before
Eg dog groomers and lots others that were closed before

EenyMeenyMinyNo · 02/11/2020 22:53

My husband works for a furniture shop (not a chain) the store will be closed but the warehouse open for click and collect via phone/website
