Kids birthday in lockdown?

Hello,

Hoping for some inspiration for DS's birthday which falls during the new lockdown. We had planned to take him to his favourite museum with a friend but now that will be closed and he can't see any friends.

Would be so grateful for any ideas from anyone whose celebrated their DC's birthday in lockdown and how you made it special?

TIA

He will be 7!

We dropped party bags round to all her friends with balloons, crowns, glowsticks and a lot of sweets and then had a Zoom party (hosted by a party entertainer dressed as Poppy the Troll (DD turning 6) who did an hour’s themed magic / treasure hunts / dancing / games).

Pancakes for breakfast. Cake and sweets for lunch. Big buffet party food for dinner (we were eating it for days but she loved it). I basically went online and bought Trolls everything - cups, plates, table cloth, cake topper, banners, balloons, wigs for the whole family, just everything. We watched the film as a living room sleepover.

DH thought I was mad, but while it was weird and possibly OTT it was special and she loved it. DS had a SuperMario party a few weeks later, lots of the same with additional cheese and pineapple hedgehog (his favourite) and fake moustaches / outfits for the whole family.

DS had his 7th birthday in June, we hired a bouncy castle for the garden and did some party food, his dad came (we're divorced). It was really nice. Probably not the weather for bouncy castles now though!

26CeramicGuineaPig I think that might just have been a dream you had! Grin
How does it end? When tge chocolate is unwrapped? When the last square is eaten?

When the last square is eaten! The aim is to eat as much chocolate as quickly as possible before someone else rolls a 6.

I definitely played that chocolate game as a child. Can confirm it is not a fever dream Grin

Dd turned 5 in June. She was allowed to choose all (her) meals for the day, plus a proper birthday tea with birthday cake, jelly, icecream and shloer (sp?) in champagne flutes.

I got her a special posh Frozen dressing up dress (if she had been older it would have been a normal dress) to wear on the day.

I did her a room makeover for her birthday because she moved out of her old room for baby sister to move in. This was always the plan, but no party meant i did more/spent more than i otherwise would and it was amazing. She had a totally fab day.

For a four year old friend, had a few people sing happy birthday and then compiled into one video.

Treasure hunt.

We did a nice Zoom birthday party for my 6 year old and 4 friends. We bought them each the same little Lego set and delivered them to their houses. During the party I set them a few little challenges of things to make, then we played a game of bingo (I'd delivered the bingo cards with the Lego sets) and sang happy birthday. It filled a Zoom call nicely and they all seemed to enjoy themselves.

OMG, the chocolate game. I used to play that at Brownies years ago and loved it. Definitely going to introduce the family to it sometime!

We did a treasure hunt for DS's 9th birthday recently. We created a map of the house and garden and had various activities like a wordsearch, maze, standing on one leg for 15s, acting out something for others to guess etc. We took it in turns to do an activity and if you were successful, you got a grid reference for the map. Looking this up on the map showed you where to look in the house or garden for treasure (sweets, little game etc). (Obviously I knew where the bits of treasure were as I had hidden them, but I played along too!)
