I am so confused So the previous shielding group ( adults ) shouldn’t go to work and should be furloughed.
Children on the list however will still be going to school and also children of the vulnerable adults ?
I really don’t get it.

And vulnerable and extremely vulnerable teachers OP.

It sucks.

Confuseeeeed25 · 02/11/2020 18:31

@Piggywaspushed no they won’t be so if they are CEV the new guidelines is that they shouldn’t go to work.
However their children will go to school 🙈

I got a letter home today saying that all children with a high clinical risk should contact their GP about whether they should still attend school .

Confuseeeeed25 · 02/11/2020 18:34

@Peppafrig who was letter from ?

OP posts:

Piggywaspushed · 02/11/2020 18:35

Nope, not teachers OP. Expected to work.

Confuseeeeed25 · 02/11/2020 18:36

I have a child who is ECV, he is only three but advised by his surgeon not to go to nursery. That’s all fine and we have made a childcare bubble for this.

However DH and I can both teach, one in primary and one in secondary. As you can’t socially distance from a three year old, this defeats the purpose a little bit.

Confuseeeeed25 · 02/11/2020 18:41

@Useruseruserusee my daughter is CEV school letter today says they expect all children to attend school unless stated by the government but there has been no mention of children 🙈

I would contact your child’s consultant or surgeon if they have one. We did so recently and although we don’t need permission to take DS out of nursery, the surgeon said that he would have written a letter to the school stating the risk of attending is too high.

Peppafrig · 02/11/2020 18:45

Why is the messaging varying so much from school to school we need clarity .

Thisisnotnormal69 · 02/11/2020 18:53

Government is still deciding this apparently, they will confirm today/tomorrow... I guess tomorrow now

notanoctopus · 02/11/2020 20:26

Hope the government stop putting people in this awful position.

doritodiva · 02/11/2020 20:32

Sorry to jump on a thread but I'm classed as a vulnerable and I work in a school. Is there some decision being made on whether I should be attending work?

Trevallyn · 03/11/2020 07:46

Children on the shielding list can stay at home if advised to by their consultant. This is taken from the shielding section on the government site:

"All pupils and students should continue to attend education settings at all local COVID alert levels unless they are one of the very small number of pupils or students under paediatric or other specialist care and have been advised by their GP or clinician not to attend an education setting."

From here: Guidance on shielding

My DC was originally going to school with consultant approval while cases in our area were low, but is now not attending school, and the school are supportive of this.
