Why can’t we implement scheduled rolling circuit breaks

We know that this is going to go on for many months yet (I suspect at least another year on the basis of a vaccine in the spring hopefully and many months to get through the vaccination list)

But we can’t keep locking down like this - it’s too much disruption and uncertainty. So why can we not have lots of little circuit breaks rather than A collosal one. So perhaps every 8-10 weeks, we take a ten day closure of non essential businesses (linking in with school holidays etc).

That way numbers don’t have the time to grow so enormously and businesses can plan much better which would put them in a much healthier and stronger position. It would reduce any panic buying and schools could plan education much better. It would also mean the state would only have to pay for wages for a week at a time rather than months on end therefore would be cheaper....

I know mentally I could cope if I need certain dates of when it would start/end. It’s this lingering uncertainty that’s causing so much damage.

On paper I would agree it sounds sensible but I don’t think it would be popular and our current government put a lot of importance on being popular even if that’s not the most effective way.
