Self isolating -should you have your child if you don't need to?

I'm trying to read the coronvirus website.

Ex took youngest DC for half term on Tuesday -he's told me yesterday that on Tuesday evening he was told to self isolate for 14 days -he didn't tell me for 6 days. He was supposed to return youngest to school in the morning. He does not have symptons -but was told by work so sel isolate until well past next weekend.
Youngest has been with him 6 days.

Yes, he should have told me earlier. I guess he has no symptons -but rather than have a couple of hours -and me pick her up when he was told -he's kept her for a week.

He won't tell me how he is getting her to school -she's primary. Should he have returned her? does it not make a difference? it isn't essential care -so should he be returning her? I'm confused.

DC doesn’t need to isolate but he does, so I’m not sure how he can take her to school if he isn’t supposed to be out. I suppose she’s fine to stay with him as she doesn’t need to isolate but why would he take the risk?
