Other agencies at school

I’ve waited nearly a year for an Ed psych apt for my son at school and it was supposed to happen face to face in November? Do people think it will still go ahead? It would be face to face with child and over the phone for me.

I knew a few speech and Lang therapists going in to schools

Some EPs only doing remote work but some have been going in

Also - some schools asking professionals to join video conferences and do remote assessments

I'm an EP and we are doing everything remotely. At first I was sceptical about how it would work, but somewhat surprisingly, I think it mostly works fine. It's possible to do a lot of the assessments remotely. Kids don't seem phased by doing things over screens. The bit that's missing is seeing the child in the classroom, but the teachers usually are very good at describing how they typical behave.

Also some of my friends doing remote classroom observations (via video call at back of classroom) just like being in the room less risk to others though

In our LA the Ed psychs aren't coming into school until January at the earliest and everything is done via zoom or teams

Everyone else is coming in with full PPE whilst the school staff have none

They can't really go in without in fairness
Plus are they not supposed to ( as per their managers directions also?)

I'm a SLT student - most of the agencies around here are teletherapy if at all remotely possible. It's not a change I'm at all happy with - I'm gritting my teeth to get through it.

Not sure about this. My child's physiotherapist wanted to go into school to observe him in a natural environment and somewhere where he is more likely to engage as he doesn't on a one-to-one basis, but school not allowing it as they are not letting in visitors which is completely understandable.
