It was 70, but now 60.

I noticed that too

KatnissMellark · 31/10/2020 21:57

Where was this announced, please?

tearstainedbakes · 31/10/2020 22:00

In the announcement earlier. But he also described people over 45 as older adults, so I'm very unhappy!

KatnissMellark · 31/10/2020 22:02

Ah ok. I wonder when/if that will be updated in the written advice. Could it have been that he misspoke?

Lougle · 31/10/2020 22:05

www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november

Clinically vulnerable people are those who are:

chronic heart disease, such as heart failure
chronic kidney disease
chronic liver disease, such as hepatitis
chronic neurological conditions, such as Parkinson’s disease, motor neurone disease, multiple sclerosis (MS) or cerebral palsy
diabetes
a weakened immune system as the result of certain conditions or medicines they are taking (such as steroid tablets)
being seriously overweight (a body mass index (BMI) of 40 or above)
pregnant"

It's in today's guidance doc. But all it seems to mean in terms of guidance is 'be a bit more careful'

Thanks for the link/quotes. Useful. Doesn't change anything for me as was vulnerable anyway but does change for some of the people in my family.

I don't see it really changes anything in practice.
AnguaResurgam · 31/10/2020 22:23

It doesn't really - the 'flu jab' group was was always classed as vulnerable (not extremely vulnerable/shield, separate list) so the only difference seems to the lowering from the flu jab age of 65 to 60

KatnissMellark · 31/10/2020 22:40

@ErrolTheDragon you're absolutely right, it's pretty meaningless really. Just do what everyone should be doing, but do it properly. Useful as a talking point though for people I'm concerned about who have not been being hugely careful.

HotToCold · 31/10/2020 22:43

He said if you are Clinically Vulnerable OR OVER 60.....

HotToCold · 31/10/2020 22:45

Doesnt make much difference , 50 or 60, See as few people as possible.
Do as little as you can , stay home as much as you can
Keep your distance, wear a mask, wash your hands....

Lougle · 31/10/2020 22:45

The official guidance says that CV = over 60 regardless of medical conditions.

the guidance says over 60s are cv - but they can still go to work - copied and pasted from [https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-national-restrictions-from-5-november#going-to-work]

should continue to wash your hands carefully and more frequently than usual and maintain thorough cleaning of frequently touched areas in your home and/or workspace

aged 60 or over (regardless of medical conditions)
