How have your DC reacted to news of another lockdown...

My biggest concern is mental health glad schools are still open but I think I did a parenting fail by DS 7 hearing some of boris's announcement but I was desperate to know. He was good at saying it worried him and missing friends again. Interested in how others are explaining it...we are currently tier 1 so a big change.

Very annoyed! They are at university, one has severe mental health issues, they haven't been out, they have no support for their studies despite the fees being in full, lecturers no answering emails (normal, but normally you can grab them after a lecture) department office shut so can't call. I offered to fetch the more vulnerable one but she declined as she really needs the library.

That's bollocks - our lecturers have been really approachable by email - even the one who is usually a bit notorious for needing to be reminded several times to do something (we love him - but he's a bit of a stereotypical academic with his brain in the clouds) has REALLY stepped it up this year.

Just casually mentioned this will be the last swimming lesson for "a month or so"

They were tiny bit gutted.

Do it but by bit. Try and stay positive for them. What else can you do?

But how would the exams be graded?

We're in Wales so in a different situation to you but when ours was announced the kids didn't bat an eyelid - one did say 'so does that mean I can't go to football - that sucks' - but then on the day it normally would have been he didn't question it

Of course we were in local lockdown anyway
