4 weeks won’t make one jot of difference.

Will it?

Even the epidemiologist said it will just delay the inevitable by another four weeks.
I think this lockdown just creates another peak over Christmas 🤷🏼‍♀️

Rachellow · 31/10/2020 21:45

I think it'll do some good and they'll certainly massage the figures to say so. We'll have Christmas with v relaxed rules eg only 3 households and less than 10 people. Then when January comes round as well no deal Brexit they'll bring in another lockdown to distract everyone with blaming each other for massive Christmas parties.

BooseysMom · 31/10/2020 21:54

@Rachellow.. Spot on!

Peppafrig · 31/10/2020 21:57

I said before as long as hundreds of thousands of school kids are out traveling on trains and buses. It won’t make a difference. Workers who can’t work from home are still going to work and using public transport and mixing . My own primary age children are in bubbles of 30 with their classmates then mix with 40 other children on the school bus .

greenlynx · 31/10/2020 22:21

It will make a difference, track and trace can’t cope with the amount of cases and NHS is struggling. Of course, going into full lockdown for 2 weeks in the middle of October would have made the same difference as 4 weeks now but well ... we are where we are.
And I agree that it will make a bigger difference if people stick to it.

ChristmasinJune · 31/10/2020 22:21

@laudemio

It won't be over in 4 weeks, they will just drop some areas down to tier 3 or 2. They will tell us max of three households, no more than 10 people can mix on Christmas and boxing day then back to tier 3 for a couple of weeks
I think this sounds likely and probably quite sensible. I think they might end up closing schools a week or so early to give the figures that extra boost....... hope not though Sad
Mintjulia · 31/10/2020 22:27

Maybe if more people actually stuck to the rules......

laidbacklife · 31/10/2020 22:38

No. Of course not. It is going to slow the transmission rate but only temporarily and then there will be a spike as the virus plays ‘catch up’. The virus isn’t going anywhere. It will work its way through the population at a faster or slower rate, depending on our lifestyle. What we’re doing now though will have very little impact on the virus in the grand scheme of things. It will however have a huge impact on our economy.

DianaT1969 · 31/10/2020 22:39

Of course it will. Reducing opportunity for transmission is reducing transmission. It will bring the R rate down again. Until the next spike a few weeks after we go back to normal.

Amytree · 31/10/2020 22:40

They may just extent it to Christmas Day, give us a day off and then extend until early Jan. Possible they may even include kids then too.

Amytree · 31/10/2020 22:40

Extend.

HotToCold · 31/10/2020 22:41

I think it will slow the spread yes.

Give the NHS a little breathing space
