I couldn’t watch Boris and co because I didn’t want the kids to watch it. Does anyone know?

  • what’s happening to shielding?
  • will swimming pools be open?
  • what about private swimming lessons?
  • play parks?
  • national trust?

Or do we have the usual of waiting for the documents with the details to be posted online 10 mins before it comes into force.

Does anyone know about nursery’s? Will they come under schools etc and remain open?

TicTacTwo · 31/10/2020 20:47

Nurseries are staying open

happylittlechick · 31/10/2020 20:47

Why are you still allowed to meet one person outside. I could meet a different friend every day of the week?

Redolent · 31/10/2020 20:49

Parks and playgrounds will remain open:

You can exercise or visit outdoor public places with the people you live with, your support bubble, or 1 person from another household.

Outdoor public places include:

parks, beaches, countryside,
public gardens (whether or not you pay to enter them), allotments, playgrounds
You cannot meet in a private garden

The full list of rules is here:

Do we know if a baby counts as a person if you’re wanting to go outside to meet one other person?

MaryShelley1818 · 31/10/2020 21:01

Does anyone know if builders and decorators can still work?
We have renovations due to start in November.

Lovely1a2b3c · 31/10/2020 21:07

All of the scientific projections are that the second wave will be much bigger with far more deaths.

All shops and pubs/restaurants to close. Stay at home as much as possible, particularly if extremely vulnerable or over 60, but you can go out for essential food shops/medical appointments.

No information about swimming, national trust but I imagine those are closing.

Support bubbles of a single person or one-parent family + kids plus another family are still allowed but otherwise the rule is that you can meet 1 other person outdoors.

Lovely1a2b3c · 31/10/2020 21:08

** I meant all shops except essential food stores.

Yes a baby is a person in England. If you are in a single adult household then you can form a bubble.

I’ve just read the guidance.
  • swimming pools closed
  • national trust can stay open, it says you can meet in publics gardens, including both ones where you do and don’t have to pay a fee to go.

@Babyroobs the guidance says support groups, including for new parents, are allowed, so it will prob be at the discretion of the local organiser

SendHelp30 · 31/10/2020 21:44

@MaryShelley1818 construction industry have been encouraged to continue. Check with your builder but your renovations should still be able to go ahead

Thank you. Obviously it's not important in the grand scheme of things but don't want to mess the workmen about and also we timed it to be finished a week before I'm induced with our second baby so a tight timescale.

OublietteBravo · 31/10/2020 21:55

Will opticians be open? The endless computer time of WFH means I think I need a new prescription, but my appointment isn’t until 9 November.

cheesemongery · 31/10/2020 22:23

This is what I was looking for from the guidelines - so I can still visit a support bubble household and vice versa ie my Mum:

You must not meet socially indoors with family or friends unless they are part of your household - meaning the people you live with - or support bubble.

A support bubble is where a household with one adult joins with another household. Households in that support bubble can still visit each other, stay overnight, and visit outdoor public places together.

SendHelp30 · 01/11/2020 05:16

@MaryShelley1818 well it’s important to you! Good luck with your induction.

NannyMcphee39 · 01/11/2020 05:21

Basically everything will be as normal apart from non essential shops and businesses closing.

None of which will make a jot of difference because schools will be open.

BigBigPumpkin · 01/11/2020 07:05

I've a query. Hairdressers are closed, but people who work at other people's houses can carry on going to work. Does this mean mobile hairdressers can still operate? What about cleaners?
