Todayisgood2 · 31/10/2020 19:35

I have 2 clinically vulnerable staff are they to stay home or continue? I thought I heard him say stay home?

OP posts:
throwaway100000 · 31/10/2020 19:36

He emphasised to minimise contact with others, so stay home if they can

LadyPenelope68 · 31/10/2020 19:36

Stay home. Unless you work in education then you’ve just got to carry on as if nothing is happening 🤬

Ridcully82 · 31/10/2020 19:38

I'm ECV,but WFH:can not say how angry I am on the issue of bit giving ECV protection if they can't work from home .it's disgusting

Iheartbaby · 31/10/2020 19:39

@LadyPenelope68

Well, as well as supermarket workers, care workers, hospital workers, cleaners, taxi drivers and many more
bumblingalonghappily · 31/10/2020 19:41

CV teacher here. Not feeling great about things...

30ishiwish · 31/10/2020 19:45

I’m an ECV teacher too. Feel sick.

laudemio · 31/10/2020 19:47

He said(for ecv) work from home if you can, if you can't stay at home. Which seems reasonable to me. So teachers, nhs staff etc who are ecv stay at home and reduce social contact.

notevenat20 · 31/10/2020 19:49

I think if you are clinically vulnerable (not ECV), you have to go to work if your boss tells you to. That applies to all university lecturers for example.

Iheartbaby · 31/10/2020 19:51

I’m really confused, I work in care, I had to shield last time. So if you shielded last time can you stay at home now. It was not clear at all

Secondtimearoun · 31/10/2020 19:53

They aren't telling anyone to shield this time so if you have to go in you have to go in

Todayisgood2 · 31/10/2020 20:18

Sorry yes should have said, they're teaching assistants so off to work they go and just cross their fingers then ... 😠

All of whom can wear masks and supermarket workers and some others can also socially distance (obviously not care/NHS, but they’re wearing some PPE). Teachers have no masks/PPE and are not able to distance. Big difference.

That’s true, I didn’t think of it like that, at least I can where a mask at work. Everyone stay safe

Many of the most clinically vulnerable were never able to stay off.

The very highest risk of death is for people with diabetes (1 in 4 of the deaths), cardiovascular patients, pulmonary or kidney conditions, hypertension, and obesity.

Millions of people. Including many health and social care workers and school staff.

SheepandCow · 31/10/2020 20:43

Sorry for the multiple posts!

AldiAisleofCrap · 31/10/2020 20:44

@LadyPenelope68 no teachers are not to go into work if ECV
Boris - “l know how tough shielding was, and we will not ask people to shield again in the same way again. However we are asking those who are clinically extremely vulnerable to minimise their contact with others, and not to go to work if they are unable to work from home.”

AldiAisleofCrap · 31/10/2020 20:45

@Ridcully82 but they have , Boris - “l know how tough shielding was, and we will not ask people to shield again in the same way again. However we are asking those who are clinically extremely vulnerable to minimise their contact with others, and not to go to work if they are unable to work from home.”

AldiAisleofCrap · 31/10/2020 20:46

@Iheartbaby yes you can stay at home.

SheepandCow · 31/10/2020 20:48

It would be a scandal if the government advises ECV to stay at home but employers go on an outdated list. Will diabetics and hypertensives be allowed to stay at home?

I honestly thought that was a mis-speak from Boris:if it comes with being able to go on furlough scheme and not just having to give up your job, then that will be great

Ridcully82 · 01/11/2020 07:22

Just seen the updated advice for ECV,and they're now saying would need to apply for SSP or esa.

Clinically vulnerable to continue?
peridito · 01/11/2020 07:25

Aldi is correct

I know how tough shielding was, and we will not ask people to shield again in the same way again. However we are asking those who are clinically extremely vulnerable to minimise their contact with others, and not to go to work if they are unable to work from home
.
that is what Boris said .Transcript here www.gov.uk/government/speeches/prime-ministers-statement-on-coronavirus-covid-19-31-october-2020

CornishTiger · 01/11/2020 07:28

If you are clinically vulnerable, or over the age of 60, you should be especially careful to follow the rules and minimise your contacts with others.

I know how tough shielding was, and we will not ask people to shield again in the same way again. However we are asking those who are clinically extremely vulnerable to minimise their contact with others, and not to go to work if they are unable to work from home

The difference is between clinically vulnerable and extremely clinically vulnerable.

I get to just minimise my contact with others but still work.

My ECV colleague gets to stay off
