Do you think moving house will be allowed in this supposed new lockdown?

Obviously everything is speculation until the 5pm press conference.

But what do people expect regarding moving house? We are due to complete on November 13th after already being delayed.

Surely they can't let everything grind to a halt?!

I exchanged, completed, and moved recently in Ireland in level 5 lockdown — our movers were operating normally, all staff temperature-checked daily, and wore masks. We were on tenterhooks when lockdown was announced in case we were stuck in a situation where the vendor would not be able to move out, so we’d have had a choice between walking away from a house on which we’d already spent a lot or completing on a house we couldn’t move into, but everything went smoothly.

Property market remains exactly the same as it has been although house viewings must be 15 mins or less.

Online it says all businesses to shut. It doesn't give moving house as a reason to travel. Prior to this lockdown the tier system specifically allowed moving, even in tier 3.

There's more guidance to come in the next few days - this will be one of the things covered. Don't forget there are lots of people working in conveyancing, etc so they need to know what they can and can't do.

The housing minister had confirmed the housing market will remain open. So yes. It’s looking like we can still move. Removal companies are less clear but I doubt they’ll want to shut unless they are forced too.

Thanks so much! Fingers crossed for removals.

If you can't work from home, you can travel to work. That included removes surely? They have to go out and travel to do their job so it is allowed?

Good luck to everyone moving.
