Mental health crisis

From just my immediate circle of friends, 3 out of 4 of have had severe anxiety and depression due to the pandemic. None suffered with mental health issues before. It is not due to fear about covid but due to the horrendous way of life now. I'm not sure I can face this winter.

Theluggage this. My 82 year old mum is the same.

The people in care homes who can’t have visitors! Horrendous. That isn’t caring for the elderly.

...and whats boris and co sneaking through while we are all distracted?

Treatedlikeamaid · 30/10/2020 01:40

Like his speech where he mentioned that after brexit Britain would be able to make its own laws...

My DC are currently munching on their 3rd McDonald's of the week whilst I have a very long bath. I know its not good for them but they are happy and have full bellies and sometimes thats enough
So what if it isn't "good for them"?

Like you say, some days "everybody fed, nobody dead" (in your home) is goods enough.

Take care!

We are social animals and are being prevented from seeing friends and family. It is hell and was only tolerable last time because of the long days and good weather. I am finding it increasingly hard to do my job and look after my kids whose own mental health is suffering.

Exactly. And before anyone says "Well you can still see your Grandma outside"
Yeah, in the pouring rain and freezing cold wind ? Sure..

I'm on meds. It's not the virus that concerns me, it's the people that would manufacture one to gain/assert control. The 'it's for your safety' crowd who have already killed millions.

Yup. My poor old mum ended up on antidepressants, but because the doc wouldn't see her in person to prescribe, or for subsequent check ups they ended up changing her meds over the phone multiple times.

She ended up switching antidepressants 5 times in 3 weeks, resulting in ending up on a psych ward for over a month suicidal. She was catheterised as one of the drugs gave her urinary retention, but of course no-one would see her in person.

Even when she had gathered all her pills and written notes, but was found in time by my dad (mid 70ies) no-one would see her. The ambulance told them a&e would turn her away.

It took days of chasing by me and my dad, plus the help of a suicide charity to get anyone involved. By then, she needed hospitalisation.

She is now out, solidly avoiding the news and still on antidepressants, weaning off the antipsychotics. Still has a catheter, the longer she has it the lower the chance of her being able to have it removed.

Bearing in mind we are on the Isle of Wight, where cases have always been negligible this was total overkill. The NHS massively failed my parents in this instance.

FlowersMy mother has developed psychosis in the last 3 months. It's hell. The community mental health team have not seen her in person either. Life is just hell now
