For tier 2 residents to travel from tier 2 to tier 1 to socialise indoors (max group size 6 maintaining social distancing).

Adult son who lives with me wants to visit friends all of whom are tier 1. He's the only tier 2 resident.

@MiddlesexGirl

Sadiq is talking about just travelling outside tier 2 generally though - it is allowed though you can only spend time with people outdoors not indoors (you have to follow the rules of your own tier). So this quote isn’t really about what you’re asking.

But he does say (if quoted accurately) to meet with a tier 1 person under their rules.
I suspect that either Sadiq is wrong or the website has quoted inaccurately or at the least misleadingly.

I think that article is quite unclear what they’re actually saying to be honest. Where is the direct quote from Sadiq? He doesn’t have any power on those decisions. I would go by the official guidance which is on gov.uk and the legislation

@GabsAlot really? Do you actually first hand know someone that this happened to?

Very surprising if the police have time to do that.

@fizzyp0p

Sorry to be thick I'm in tier 2 Am I allowed to meet my mum in a cafe in a tier 1 area? Assume ok if it's outdoor seating area?
It's OK outside. And OK inside if you are in a support bubble with her.
GabsAlot · 28/10/2020 14:36

yes coco was on my local fb group -they do partrol sometimes through town so got time if theyre already there

Racoonworld · 28/10/2020 14:45

It’s illegal. Surely it’s easy enough to say he can move out if he wants to go. Plenty of grown adults have no option of living at home.

fizzyp0p · 28/10/2020 23:37

Thank you @amicissimma not in a bubble so will meet outside. I hadn't been listening to latest as I go to work and stay in all the time anyway but mum mentioned it and I wasn't sure. Cheers

MereDintofPandiculation · 29/10/2020 10:16

It's merely advised not to travel unnecessarily. But once there, he still has to abide by Tier 2 rules because he lives in Tier 2, which says no mixing households indoors - and that's backed up by a possible fine.

AcornAutumn · 29/10/2020 10:19

the law quoted shows what you're allowed in Tier 2

I think the OP means her son is travelling to Tier 1

I'm trying to keep up with the law but it's very confusing.

NotAnActualSheep · 29/10/2020 11:44

Yes, but the law for Tier 2 also states what people living in Tier 2 aren't allowed to do elsewhere (i.e. in Tier 1). It is confusing though, I agree, and not helped by different rules being imposed on different places all theoretically in the same tier...

SCHEDULE 1 Tier 2 restrictions
PART 1 Restrictions on gatherings
.... .
(2) No person living in the Tier 2 area may participate in a gathering outside that area which—
(a)consists of two or more people, and
(b)takes place indoors.

I'm not going to be chucking him out. I like him!
