Not selling allsorts after 6 tonight are they. Clothes too. So clothes aren't essential, we can all go naked to the shop! No one needs to see that, so clothes are essential. I'll be glad to see less fireworks.
New clothes. New clothes aren’t essential for the next 2 weeks. Not clothes in general. As PPs have said, if you are in dire need between now and the 9th there are many organisations that can help you.

Wish it would be a permanent thing, should only be sold to people who have a pyrotechnic licence.

Carrotcakey · 23/10/2020 19:14

Wish they’d stop selling them non stop. It’s firework night every night in Oct and Nov in the estate I live in. Poor Ddog.

The supermarkets non essential stuff is bonkers tho. The Tesco’s by me has taped up the aisles and covered everything over.

Carrotcakey · 23/10/2020 19:15

Full stop not non stop even!

That's crazy. I had 3 month old babies at the start of the last pandemic, what WOULD I have dressed then in if clothes aren't essential?

Are they essential? Really?

What would have happened if you didn't have any at all for them?

Are you questioning if clothes are essential because I could have just left them naked for weeks??

And if I couldn't afford to have clothes them at all I'd have been in contact with SS surely. I wouldn't just have naked babies for months in end

To be fair, I doubt they would have done this if we were going into an indefinite lock down. It's only 17 days this time. There will be restrictions after that, but I doubt it will include no clothes etc!

noideaatallreally · 23/10/2020 19:31

Again - it is for two weeks plus one extra weekend!!! How fast can a baby grow in this time!! I totally support a circuit break lockdown - closing the non essential aisles in the supermarket may well be the reminder that some people need that we are indeed in lockdown.

Yeah I did think after I posted, if we lived in Wales I'd pop out today and grab some 18-24 babygros just in case. It's not an unlimited time is it. Altho @Bwlch thinks it's ok for babies to not own clothes

Yeah it was more the general principle that if you're a low income family say who normally relies on charity shops and buying as you need, or just your bloody kid pulls the sole off his shoes a day into lockdown, that's fine
bibbitybobbitycatz · 23/10/2020 20:09

These rules are in force til 9 November, so yes it is!

bibbitybobbitycatz · 23/10/2020 20:12

I think they should have made an exception for children's clothes.

StarCat2020 · 23/10/2020 20:30

Personally I think that banning the sale of fireworks is a great idea.

Not only are they annoying, the last thing A & E departments need are patients who have been injured by fireworks.

PetitFours · 23/10/2020 20:41

So they waited until retailers got in loads of stock before telling them they can't sell it? Genius management of the economy.
