AIBU to dislike colleagues over coronavirus attitude?

I appreciate some people may find this petty but I’m feeling a lot of resentment towards my colleagues and bosses atm due to their attitudes surrounding covid 19.
So, firstly, a few weeks ago, DH had cough & high temp so we decided to book a test.
Told boss I’d let him know outcome. He said presumably if go to work unless result was positive. Told him legally we had to self isolate until we got a negative result so I had to take 2 days unpaid off work.
Had results and were negative so rang boss, he told me I should bin our thermometer or we’d keep checking our temperatures and if we had another high one, we’d feel the need to be tested again (isn’t this normal if you have symptoms anyway?!)
So...since I’ve been back, (no covid safety at our workplace and nothing happened when they were reported to HSE), we’ve gone into a local lockdown and all 7 of the people who live in tier 2 area, are flouting the rules. All 7, including the MDs.
They’ve been mixing with other households, going to pub with friends outside tier 2 areas and lying about where they live, visiting family, going on holiday...
One MD has booked a trip with his friends this weekend outside of tier 2 area and when I said I thought you had to stay home, said it’s all a load of bol@!cks... seems to be the attitude of almost everyone I know now.
AIBU to think these are selfish people and the part of the reason the virus is spreading?

Yanbu. At all.

They are the reason people won't be having a 'proper' Christmas. And they are the reason why we'll still be in this situation next spring. But you can't legislate for stupidity.

Please don’t make ur own rules up and then judge

There are no laws about travel end of

Im tier 3 and we can travel anywhere it’s all advice only - gov deliberately stated that it was not mandated so they can go where they want in England and can even go on holiday still

grumplass · 25/10/2020 09:02

@Ginogineli do you have a link to this? Pretty sure tier 3 shouldn't travel in or out unless essential.

OP you're not BU, I just do not understand why people think the restrictions are optional for them.

Samiad85 · 25/10/2020 09:05

I dislike any colleagues like you. Luckily there are very few at my workplace.
There is one, she’s called Karen which is very apt.
I follow all rules (tier 2) I just haven’t got the time or energy to keep concerning myself with what anyone else is up to. Just concentrate on yourself. I don’t want to hear someone preaching their boring opinion in my office and I don’t bore everyone with mine.

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 09:18

Grumpass

Gov have made it clear what are mandated (must) and advice (should)

www.gov.uk/guidance/local-covid-alert-levels-what-you-need-to-know#local-covid-alert-level-very-high

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 09:21

Again avoid and advised

Not mandated

My brothers a policeman in tier 3 and confirmed you cannot be challenged or fined for any travel

Tier 3 friends of mine have just booked Tenerife!

Wales is different as there rules are legal

grumplass · 25/10/2020 09:31

@Ginogineli thanks.... if the government tells me to avoid something and advises against it on public health grounds I'm going to go with that unless it's a family emergency.
People just ignoring this is going to keep areas in tier 3 for the foreseeable.

Pollynextdoor · 25/10/2020 09:35

Agree if the advise if against non essential travel, don’t go to Tenerife.

Ginogineli · 25/10/2020 09:48

Polly

The problem for some is that if holidays are fully paid for you are not allowed refunds as you can legally go

I’m due away Feb half term and will lose 5k if I don’t go

@IHeartHounds
“to protect older people who have already lived past the life expectancy in this country”

It is NOT just about protecting the elderly. Why do people not understand this?

There are vulnerable people (to Covid-19) in every age group.

There are people in every age group that need urgent hospital care for reasons other than Covid-19 too.

If everyone carries on as normal and the virus takes off again, and the “older people who have already lived past the life expectancy in this country” are all in hospital taking up all the beds AND staff time, then where are people going to be treated for cancer? For strokes? For heart disease? For car crashes? Etc.

It is not just about the elderly.

YANBU. It is selfish and shortsighted, and stupid. Can't change them.
