DD had Covid recently. We've had 3 days of freedom post isolation as a result.

DS has developed a fever tonight.

😭

It's unlikely to be Covid as we are over 2 weeks post dd's positive test but back to isolation we go.

DH is a keyworker and has managed one shift (due back in tomorrow). He has 38hrs of overtime scheduled for next week. I'm keeping everything crossed it isn't Covid.

Have you managed to get a test booked... Hoping it's negative 🤞

ShowOfHands · 22/10/2020 20:51

Booked in for tomorrow morning.

DD is utterly gutted. She adores school and now has to isolate again even though she's already had it.

Why does she have to isolate again if already had it ?

ShowOfHands · 22/10/2020 20:52

And my car is out of MOT. It was booked in 10 days ago but, guess what, we were self isolating. Its booked in for 2pm tomorrow. Bugger.

You must self-isolate again even if you've had a positive test result for coronavirus before. You probably have some immunity to coronavirus but it's not clear how long it will last. You must not leave your home if you're self-isolating

Official rules.

Your DD does need to isolate as she could still spread the virus if your son has it, even if she’s already had it.
I am so sorry this has happened to you. But thank you so much for doing the right thing and following the rules OP!

bookish83 · 22/10/2020 20:56

I don't believe she would have to isolate again if she just had it? Though you and husband (and son) would if he tests positive.

I think?

I copy and pasted the rules above.

A positive test does not preclude you from further self isolating. It changes nothing.

Definitely has to isolate again.

bookish83 · 22/10/2020 21:05

Thanks for the clarification. It makes sense now

ShowOfHands · 24/10/2020 15:34

He tested positive.

Shit.

NaturalLight · 24/10/2020 15:44

Sorry to hear that. But absolutely well done for doing the right thing and getting him tested. Hope it’s a mild case

Sunflowers246 · 24/10/2020 15:49

Have you had it too? Just curious whether it spreads easily?

mrshoho · 24/10/2020 15:51

Oh no! So sorry you're all in this situation. I'm dreading if we need to isolate but back to back like this is awful.

Yesterdayhadquinoatodaychips · 24/10/2020 15:52

Sorry OP, what a nightmare.

Lisette1940 · 24/10/2020 15:55

I'm so sorry to read about the positive test. Sending healing vibes to your family.

Fredchicken · 24/10/2020 15:57

Very sorry op. Annoying to have to isolate again. Hope your children only have mild symptoms. Have you had it too?

DodgeRainClouds · 24/10/2020 16:03

I have recently had covid. We have had 2days out of the house and I feel so anxious about having to isolate again?! This situation is so crap. My children coped ok (very emotional and fed up the last few days) but I don’t think they will cope so well again.

Keepdistance · 24/10/2020 16:16

Thats rubbish op.
How old vaguely is dd? Just wondering if she spread it.
But re the ds catching -the rule on cdc is that if you are having contact with the patient then you need to do 14d from their end of quarantine as you could catch at any point.

I probably would have considered dd as done with isolation despite ds catching as it's surely likely he caught from her and it's like day 17 maybe with her having had it till at least day 10.

MrsHound · 24/10/2020 16:18

Sorry OP what a nightmare

MillicentMartha · 24/10/2020 16:39

That’s a pain! Is it half term where you are?

FippertyGibbett · 24/10/2020 16:42

Someone I work with kept having temperature spikes after she had recovered from Covid.

ShowOfHands · 24/10/2020 17:53

It is half term here. DS technically shouldn't miss school because he can do his 10 days and go back next Monday. Except his whole bubble will need to do 14 days so there will be no bubble for him to rejoin. So another week of homeschooling, trying to work from home (I started a new job 7 weeks ago and have totally let them down), DH panicking about letting work down, no overtime next week which is our Christmas contingency and oh, it's all miserable.

No idea if we've had it too. I felt unwell before DD was diagnosed (but no Covid symptoms), seemed like sinusitis and DH had a stomach bug but again no Covid symptoms. Tbh though, the fever was the only symptom the children had.

@Keepdistance DD is a young teen.

Sorry you have had such a rough time of it

BlackeyedSusan · 24/10/2020 18:48

sorry that is really shit. hope you all stay as well as possible with it.
