I'm not sure if I understand how this works. I thought people isolate for 14 days for a reason as that is how long symptoms can take up to to come on as well as tests not being able to detect covid within the first few days.

I wonder who conducts these tests and what about parents consent?

It's all very well Matt announcing this, but we need further information if these are potentially going to be used in our schools. I can't see anything yet on Department for Education website.

I work in education and think this is an interesting initiative and a good way to stamp out school related clusters. Will need to see more details though.

so, the point of these tests is that they are almost instant.
Say a child tests positive in a bubble, instead of then sending all the contacts or bubble home to isolate they could be tested each day on arrival to school and only sent home if/when they tested positive.

That would be such an improvement.

I think they're a good idea

It's lies. They are testing several tests to see if they work on high doses of Covid. A handful of schools are running this trial, if someone tests positive, the close bubble has to isolate and they have to have a proper test. It's all at an experimental stage at the moment.
