My wonderful sister is getting married this weekend
Her daughter has been sent home from school as her bubble has burst.
So far my dn is totally symptom free and has had a negative test result as of yesterday.
The last contact with the + case was on Thursday, The wedding is on Sunday.
Should she still be isolating or with the negative test is she ok to go ahead and attend the wedding?

Unfortunately she needs to isolate for 14 days from the last contact regardless of what the test result said. We're in a similar situation DP due to be best man on sat but we are both in 14 day isolation period sadly.

She needs to isolate for 14 days. That means not leaving her home. Sadly she can not go to the wedding. Bumping the post won't change the correct answer.

No she can't go to the wedding and needs to islolate. All the test tells you is that Covid is currently not detectable - not that you have not been infected. Average incubation is 5/6 days - so if contact was Thursday - then by Sunday she might very well be infectious (but without symptoms) It's horrible, but the alternative is her possibly infecting other wedding guests.

And just to be clear - you can be in the infectious stage, but test negative.

Thanks so much for your replies! This is as I thought but as you can imagine for my ds the idea of cancelling a wedding is heartbreaking x

A 65 person indoor Maine wedding (that breached local attendance limits) last month has now resulted in three deaths and 147 infections - because some of those present also infected others who didnt attend.

It's awful for everyone who was expecting to be there but sorry a negative test isnt conclusive. If she is infected that would be the time symptoms might be expected to develop, so the most infectious time.

Relieved to report that the wedding is now postponed from a safety standpoint but so so gutted for her :(

It's such a shame but the right thing to do. I hope they are able to reschedule and manage to have a lovely day when it can go ahead.
