Confused about isolation rules

I got an email from my children's primary school that said one of my children has had close contact with a child whoes tested positive in her class so we have to isolate for 14 days and can't go Out, but I'm still allowed to send my two high school children to school? So does this mean I can't have anyone in my house either and I can't allow my children who go to the primary school to go with any other family member ? But I'm still ok to send my two oldest to high school? Does not make any sense !!

It's only the child that has had close contact with an infected person that has to self isolate. This should also include isolating from other household members as much as possible. Everyone else in the household can carry on as normal unless the self isolating child displays symptoms. Basically self isolating only impacts direct contacts.

You can't have anyone else in your house

Do the people I live with also need to self-isolate at home with me for 14 days?
If you are a contact of a person who has tested positive for COVID-19, but you do not have symptoms, other people living with you do not need to self-isolate and should follow the general guidance

If you do develop symptoms of COVID-19, you should arrange to have a test to see if you have COVID-19 – visit NHS.UK to arrange or contact NHS 119 via telephone if you do not have internet access. If you live with other people, they will need to begin self-isolation at home while you wait for your test result. Follow the Stay at Home: Guidance for households with possible or confirmed COVID-19.

Self-isolating at home for the 14-day period will help protect your family, friends and the NHS. Self-isolating at home in this way can also protect the most vulnerable in society, by reducing the chance of a second wave of COVID-19 in the wider community.

Thank you, the thing is I have 3 in primary school and the email is generic and doesn't tell me which of my 3 children has had the direct contact and it's half term for the youngest so I think all 3 will have to isolate as I'm not sure I'll be able to contact them to see which child but we won't be going anywhere separately anyway so it doesn't make a difference I guess

If Jess is in class with ClovidKate then He's isolates. They may say keep Jess' little sister off too because of the logistics of getting small kids to school when Jess is isolating. Jess' older siblings can go to school because they can go alone / you don't need to get out the car where Jess is.
In theory Jess should isolate from everyone at home but how do you go that with kids? Just make sure time are will ventilated and stop them licking each other for a few weeks
