Tier 3 - dumb question (sorry)

I am now in a tier 3 area (Greater Manchester) although frustratingly I can go for a run and run out of the county as I'm so close to the border (but that's by the by!).

My question is as a tier 3 resident, if I have a UK holiday booked in a non tier 3 location, would I be required to cancel?

Looking at the legislation I'm a bit confused. It is only a trip with those in my household (my husband) to a self contained flat in Cornwall.

Thanks.

From what I gather the guidelines are you should stay in your own area buts not a legal requirement, but might want to check with accommodation I know someone at work who had accommodation booked for earlier in year and when they found out where she was coming from ( lancs) they said they wouldn't accept her.

SlipperyLizard · 21/10/2020 20:40

As above, I think it is legal but not advised, but I’ve also heard of accommodation providers (in the Lakea, and also Center Parcs) cancelling bookings from those in Tier 3 areas, so don’t be surprised if that happens.

SlipperyLizard · 21/10/2020 20:41

In the Lakes, not Lakea. Also I feel your pain OP, I’m right on the edge of GM but we’re lumped in with it in Tier 3. No more “fair” than lumping Cornwall in with a national lockdown.

In in the northwest. At least our gyms can reopen. I can now pay to be a member and still not set foot in there GrinShock

Brighterthansunflowers · 22/10/2020 00:56

You should stay in your own area.

It’s not illegal but its against guidelines and is extremely fucking selfish

3littlewords · 22/10/2020 05:25

You shouldn't be going, the guidance advising against travel outside the area isn't for fun theres a genuine serious reason behind it.
Its crap you will miss your holiday but you are no different to the millions of other people who have been unable to holiday this year

Redcrayons · 22/10/2020 05:56

I also know someone who had their holiday cancelled based on postcode. It’s not law though, it’s advice against non essential travel.

I’m also a mile away from tier 2, they have higher cases than us.

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2020 06:03

@nancybotwinbloom oh glad to see things back to normal for you on that score! You must have really missed paying and choosing not to go. Grin
After several years of similar I chose to cancel membership and buy a pretty expensive piece of home fitness equipment. I now simply choose not to use it here in my own home - so much easier. Less faffing around not packing gym bag and not walking to gym etc. Sorted.

MiracletoCome · 22/10/2020 06:17

I think it would depend if they refund you, they don’t have to as it is not law, obviously if the holiday company does not want to refund you it shows that they are happy for you to be there so in that case I would go.

nancybotwinbloom · 22/10/2020 07:23

@HeronLanyon

Fucking brilliant GrinGrinGrin

Redcrayons · 22/10/2020 07:56

@HeronLanyon wasting money on the gym from the comfort of your own home is a genius move. Why didn’t I think of that.

Off to peruse home gyms and treadmills.

Great that you got to spend the same amount of money on not working out! Grin

3kidsandafewcats · 22/10/2020 08:24

Contact them and see what they say, I would definitely go if I wasn’t going to get refunded.

HeronLanyon · 22/10/2020 08:33

I think I haven’t yet broken even - it was expensive. Confused
