Wedding restrictions

Do people think there will still be wedding restrictions in place next year? Mainly reduced numbers? I'm due to get married next summer and am holding off ordering things in case things change again but I really should get cracking. I had previously foolishly thought that things would be normal again by then but not so sure and if I'm going to have to half my numbers I'd rather know before I start ordering things like favours and invites. What are people's opinions on this? I know we can't say for sure just yet.

I really don't think you need to worry about favours and invites for a wedding next summer. There's nothing you need to order more than a few months in advance except cancellable things like venue and band / DJ etc.

True i guess I'd just like to know what it's likely to look like in terms of numbers.

I don’t think anyone knows. If it’s like this year guidance was changed with pretty much no notice so you may have to change plans pretty quickly.

This. You can order most things a few weeks before and you'll be fine.

What are favours (in this context)?

Redolent · 21/10/2020 09:25

I hope that by next summer we’ll have rapid covid testing in place for things like large hospitality venues (may cost slightly more per head). That would be the optimistic perspective. It really would be disastrous if the events industry had another dead summer and that includes things like weddings.

What are favours (in this context)? Little gifts left on the table for guests to take home, eg little boxes of sweets.

When they brought in the "only 15 people" rule, they were talking about it being in place for 6 months - that takes us up to mid March. It's a long step from "only 15" to a full sized wedding, I don't think that'll happen quickly. I'd advise you to forget about it at least till after Christmas.

@MereDintofPandiculation
Thank you it would have bugged me all day trying to work that one out (especially as I never would have worked it out).

Thanks!!

To be honest in some ways I wouldn't mind the numbers being slashed it would enable us to get rid of a lot of distant relatives and colleagues!!!!

But I would like to know what I'm working with.

I'm also due to get married next summer (it was supposed to be in June this year), and honestly I'm close to cancelling the whole thing. I can't foresee any gatherings in such large numbers (100+) any time soon, given it's only 15 now... urgh. It's a crap situation.
