I'm confused, dd has been in SI for nearly two weeks and we have kept her in.
However on class what's app parents are chatting about the walks and bikes rides and stuff they are going on?

I thought people who had to si were not supposed to go out. Digging through swathes of government utter bollax guidance it says don't go anywhere public?

Yes you’re right self isolation means not going anywhere. Bike rides are a definite no.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 20/10/2020 22:20

It says '' not public places.. ''

What idiots! 🤦🏻‍♀️

NoGoodPunsLeft · 20/10/2020 22:35

When my friend & her DC were isolating & waiting for tests results they didn't leave the house (no garden).

People are idiots, it's no wonder it isn't contained if people are out & about when they shouldn't be.

There has been some research which suggests as little as 18% isolate properly

SleeplessWB · 20/10/2020 22:39

It definitely means stay at home the whole time! However, for the benefit of the mental health of a child forced to stay in for two weeks, clearly a walk in an isolated spot is not actually going to cause covid to spread to anyone else.

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 20/10/2020 22:39

It seemed like loads were out and about?
But, in their defence it does say, quite loosely no public places..

Sleepless for dc in flats etc I agree but I felt a bit silly because my poor dd has been in!

People are stupid. You stay in and well done for doing that

Reallybadidea · 20/10/2020 22:44

It's a bit stupid, because if one of them tests positive during that period of self-isolation then anyone they've been in close contact with will have to self-isolate for another 14 day period. It's called self isolation for a reason!

TheHouseonHauntedHill · 21/10/2020 22:38

Really bad I would have thought the same, but I guess a parent slipping out safely and taking dc some where they know will be quiet won't be such a problem.... But for the general ethos to be chatting about it seemed odd to me?.
