It will be as before but with a one way system and masks in corridors.

Is this what most are doing? Currently they're bubbled in sections of the school all day.

@MsAwesomeDragon at my sons school they wait on the bus for each year group. It means only one year group moving across school at a time.
We also only have one canteen but have put in makeshift canteens for all years. For example one uses the assembly hall, one the sports hall etc.
I see from this thread some schools are using marquees. There are ways.

There aren't ways to have 24 buses waiting for over half an hour in a bus bay with spaces for 8 buses. That's not possible. There are 3 "waves" of buses, with kids having to wait outside. Fabulous for your school that they've got a canteen and a separate assembly hall etc, we don't. We have 2 halls, one is used for assemblies, lunch and drama, that's where lunch is served. The other is used for gym, dance, and smaller assemblies. That's where packed lunches are eaten.

There are no ways for my school to work the way your son's school works. And it's frankly insulting that you think you know my school and the logistical difficulties we would face better than I do, or than the SLT do. We are the people in the building, doing the job, seeing what is possible and what is not. What you are suggesting IS NOT POSSIBLE in the buildings and catchment that we have.

It's all a nonsense .. we all know that secondary school attendance is spreading this by. Vast degree but also many are persuading themselves that kids in school are more important than human lives.

I say justify all you like why you want your secondary school child at school, it still means people are going to be very ill or die before their time.

If EVERY family was given a vote between education this year and granny/grandad live OR delay your education for a year and they live .. what would YOU choose ?

Only measures ours have is separate lunches and wiping desks before use. No masks . No cases that I’m aware of .

I agree bubbles are nonsense when in the 100s.

But it's concerning if they didn't even explain why?

Bubbles with spread out year groups should be in force and blended learning.

@Sarahbeans

That's the way my school has done it all along.

Students move between lessons, as they would any other year. Only difference is that there is a one way system, students wear masks in corridors etc and desks are cleaned every lesson.

We've had a couple of cases, but no cross infection in school.

It would be fascinating to understand how many cases they are that are not picked up where children do not show symptoms.

Weird isn't it?

Our secondary school have announced that they're doing away with staggered start and finish times.

Yet they've been quite strict on keeping bubbles of 30.

Now doesn't seem to be the time to be reducing measures in place.

QueenBlueberries · 21/10/2020 12:11

I think some schools are changing some of their rules because they can see what works and what doesn't within their own building. Our secondary school is changing nothing - back after half term will be the same as now with staggered start finish, break, extra toilet blocks, two separate food halls, one way system, face masks in corridors, extra cleaning.
