The south should be demanding a lockdown now

Why wait, our rates are growing exponentially, a short lockdown now could bring rates down. Why wait until we are as fucked over as Manchester.

Agree with @PhilCornwall1 fuck all cases here and actually I'd like my business to survive, teetering on the edge of going bust at present so don't need any lockdowns.

DevonBird9 · 20/10/2020 17:49

🙄 no thanks.

ohnothisagain · 20/10/2020 17:51

Rates are going down where I am (about 10-20% less cases each day), and were never high. Southeast btw, not that far out of London.

Requinblanc · 20/10/2020 17:52

Why? because the previous national lockdown worked so well? if you want to lock yourself down, just do so...

With a national lockdown for 2 weeks all you will achieve is that 2 weeks after the lockdown ends you will be back in exactly the same position, only with more people in the dole, people who missed out on treatment for other conditions like cancer and people whose mental health has declined even further.

It is more important to get testing and track and trace finally right and continue to keep people working from home and to look at whether keeping universities open is really working than to keep believing in the nonsense that national lockdowns actually achieve anything.

Chloemol · 20/10/2020 17:52

No

Everyone needs to follow the ducking rules for whatever tier you are in

But they won’t, because after all they know best, so we continue. So lockdown those areas who have issues at the moment not the whole country

ListeningQuietly · 20/10/2020 17:56

What do you expect a lockdown to achieve ?
based on evidence

Greyhair59 · 25/10/2020 08:23

No, they dont work. Fatality rate c0.05%, average age of those who die 82 - why the crazy panicking? Get a grip!!!!

Stircrazyschoolmum · 25/10/2020 08:29

What do you expect a lockdown to achieve

Mass redundancies
Mass unemployment
Child poverty
Increased domestic violence
Spiralling mental health issues
Disrupted education
Rule ‘fatigue’

Exactly this. It's bad enough we've been put into tier 2 when numbers don't warrant it. I do not want a southern lockdown it can piss right off!
Dustballs · 25/10/2020 08:36

No. Thank you.

Sonnenscheins · 25/10/2020 08:46

I'd prefer businesses to survive and kids getting an education.

The death rate is still very very low!

JamSarnie · 25/10/2020 08:49

I know why don't we all go and live in a cave on our own until we die so that no one ever dies of covid again?

No I won't call for a lockdown.

Tt101 · 25/10/2020 08:57

Why don't you and everyone else who want 'lockdown now' get on with it. Self isolate. Let everyone else on with our lives.

HeddaGarbled · 25/10/2020 09:00

our rates are growing exponentially

Not in my neck of the woods.

AnyFucker · 25/10/2020 09:04

Manchester is not "fucked over" at all

JamminDoughnuts · 25/10/2020 09:07

i shall just carry on with social distancing, mask wearing, hand washing.

trappedsincesundaymorn · 25/10/2020 09:19

South of where?

Rushjob · 25/10/2020 12:50

Number 3 in that list didn’t work when we had our “3 week lockdown to flatten the curve” in March/April/May/June so why would it now?

AcornAutumn · 25/10/2020 12:54

OP

What data has led to this conclusion please?

JM10 · 25/10/2020 12:59

No, I do not want us to go into a lockdown. Of a national one comes in will be roetty pissed off that we have to lockdown despite the very low numbers.

doireallyneedaname · 25/10/2020 13:11

Agreed. It’s beyond a joke!

cologne4711 · 25/10/2020 13:13

Our rates are not rising exponentially. In fact they are barely rising at all where I am.

unchienandalusia · 25/10/2020 13:14

No!!! Lock yourself down if you want. But the economy cannot be fucked even more!

IrkedEssex · 25/10/2020 13:34

Oh, yippee! Why not follow Wales and let the government dictate what we are allowed to buy, while you're at it?

Sonnenscheins · 25/10/2020 13:42

Yes, let's hurt our economy even more! Let's increase debt to way over 100% of GDP! So that our children can pay huge taxes for decades...!
