Does this mean DD can't leave the house for 14 days?

We just received this from DD's school:

"This evening we learnt that a member of staff who has had contact with your child’s class has tested positive for covid 19. As a result your child’s class will move to home learning from Monday 19th October for the remainder of this half term. Your child should not come into school tomorrow."

Does this mean she can't leave the house for 14 days now? The letter doesn't explain this.

The letter is a bit ambiguous then. You want to know if she can go out on 29th or whether it includes 29th and she can go out on the 30th? I'd be inclined to think it includes 29th and that she is free to go out on 30th.

@notevenat20

Got the letter through

In line with the national guidance your child must stay at home and self-isolate until Thursday 29th October.

Does anyone know, is that midnight on the 29th (as in one minute before the 30th)?

Yes it is. So she can get back to normal on the 30th UNLESS she starts displaying symptoms within the 14 days where she will then isolate for 10 days after a positive test. If the test is negative you can stick to the 30th.

I’d read that exactly the opposite way - isolate until Thursday 29th means that she is OK to go out at anytime after midnight ie 00:01 Thursday morning

Hi I had this exact scenario last week. You should get more information today hopefully to say when they need to isolate to and the guidelines

OldEvilOwl · 19/10/2020 11:36

If you don't then ring the school

dementedpixie · 19/10/2020 11:36

Exactly, it can be read both ways. The letter should say 'up to and including 29th' if they wanted to be clearer
