Birthday party

My Dd is in a mixed class year 3/4. Last week the teacher said she wished X a great birthday and hoped everyone had a great time at the party.

Year 4 has 16 children in it and so I’m left wondering how can they have a party with 16 children? I thought there was a rule of 6 now?

My own Dd didn’t have a party for this reason.

Maybe not all of them were invited?
It’s my DD’s birthday today. Similar age. We were trying to plan a very small outdoor party with 3 or 4 of her classmates, but cancelled it a couple of weeks ago. Ironically, we can now meet in gardens, which we havn’t been able to for months.

Often say "happy birthday hope you all have a good day" meaning your family or whoever it may be you are celebrating with. Not necessarily the whole class. Can see how that may be misinterpreted by a pupil though. (FYI I am not a teacher, I mean i would say this to work/friends/kids friends etc)

It was on the class dojo and it read ‘have a great time at X party year 4!’ Which sounded to me like a class party

If it wasn’t a class party I imagine some of the year 4 parents wouldn’t be happy!

That seems very thoughtless for a teacher to say!

It did sound like the whole class was going, that’s why I was puzzled !
