Going into the house of someone who had covid

AKissAndASmile · 18/10/2020 18:53

If somebody finished their isolation period after testing positive one one day and then person two went into that person's house the following day and stayed drinking all night (literally coming home the next morning), what do you think the chances are that person two could catch covid? We know it lives on surfaces.

But given that you're in higher restrictions (I'm guessing Tier 2 at least by your comments) surely the fact he was in someone else's house drinking is an issue regardless (unless they're bubbled?). Obviously the recent isolation adds to that but even if they were never positive in the first place technically they shouldn't have been there drinking all night anyway?

GabsAlot · 19/10/2020 15:18

thats what people ar emissing lottie he wasnt meant to be there in the first place

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 16:28

I'm sorry I've not responded to the last few comments. I feel really upset. He's been partying every weekend for two months. This was the last straw. We are in an area that has been on high alert for months and is about to go into tier 3. I didn't sleep last night and I can't eat. I'm worried this thread will be discovered so I might ask for it to be deleted soon. In the meantime has anybody got any comforting words?

What's your housing situation, can you ask him to leave? Do you have somewhere else to go?

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 16:34

We own jointly. I've asked him to stay at his friend's but he has said no.

You could always move out?
Where to with 2 kids in tow?

Justmuddlingalong · 19/10/2020 17:02

Do you want to end the relationship, I think that's the biggest decision you have to make?

Inkpaperstars · 19/10/2020 17:16

It's not fair for him to be out drinking and partying every single weekend while you hold the fort, even without current issues. I sense there is a lot going on here Flowers

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 17:19

Thank you @Inkpaperstars

@Justmuddlingalong yes, a lot to think about. Some breathing space would be nice

He's admitted he did coke. Explains how he was able to stay up so long

OP posts:
Lowkee · 19/10/2020 20:39

I'd be rid of him for the coke. Wouldn't be too worried about him having caught covid from the guy's house though.

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 21:09

@hopefulhalf

I sometimes think I am living in a parralel universe, are these people 18yo students ? If not WFT are they doing going round to each other's houses and drinking all night. I haven't been in anyone else's house (except MIL who is in our bubble) since March.

I agree with you! I'm sorry but I somehow missed this message

Later on in this thread Ive been accused of being controlling because I'm not happy about the going out. Even though it's against the law. There's a lot of weird people in this country.

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 21:41

Thanks @Lowkee
He's said he's going to take a covid test. That would really set my mind at ease. At the moment he is being really good about staying in the spare room and using the alcohol hand gel I've put on the counter in the kitchen before he touches anything in the kitchen. He's also sticking to the upstairs bathroom. He's been very remorseful today and is doing everything I ask. He seems as upset as I am

I have wracked my brain to assess if I am being controlling as a previous (deleted ) poster said. I don't think I am with regards to the going out every weekend during lockdown, but maybe I am about the covid guy. He was wrong to go to his house because it is illegal, and he has now promised to not keep going to parties any more because it is illegal. But maybe I am overreacting about him bringing back covid because he went to the guy's house. I sound crazy to some people, but it is 2020 and we are in a pandemic....this is what is going on!

What is the point in taking a test if he has no symptoms? It also has an incubation period so just because he gets a negative test now doesnt mean he isn't incubating it (although probably not from being in the house with his friend)

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 22:01

Because the vast majority of people are asymptomatic. He is young and fit so I would fully expect him to be asymptomatic if he got it. I don't understand why people post such messages. Have you not been reading about this virus?

He went to the person's house on Friday, so if he got it then or the early hours of Saturday I would expect by the time he gets a covid test it will be the correct time to pick it up.

OP posts:
dementedpixie · 19/10/2020 22:03

Because there are people with symptoms finding it hard to get tests and he's getting one with no symptoms

dementedpixie · 19/10/2020 22:04

And I'm sick to death hearing about the virus!

Janevaljane · 19/10/2020 22:04

If they had no symptoms by day 7 then a 10 day isolation is fine and what is recommended.

Janevaljane · 19/10/2020 22:06

People who have had Covid aren't lepers and are allowed to have friends over. If your friend doesn't have symptoms then no test needed.

AKissAndASmile · 19/10/2020 22:07

He did have symptoms, but he's fine now

OP posts:
Janevaljane · 19/10/2020 22:10

The going out all the time and the coke are far far bigher issues than covid, OP
